EMILY

I walked into the cell with Anna by the side of me.

Nate leaves us.

"Mother, I want to know what you know," I ask her as I look at her.

"I don't know what you are talking about," she shouts at me with a frown.

Her face is all swollen, and she has a black eye forming. How is she hurt? She has only been with my...

"Did he do that to you?" I ask, hissing the words out, pointing to her face. She remains silent; she looks away from me, staring at the wall ahead, clearly indicating that she has been hurt.

"Do you remember what he did to me and Mila, mother?" I asked. She straightened up and looked back at me with a confused look.

"What the hell are you talking about?" She asks.

Before she can do or say anything, "Let me show you what he did to Mila, Sapphire, and also me, your daughter," I say with a hint of rage.

I grabbed her hand. My magic running through me comes into contact as I connect with her with my magic. My eyes glazed over, and I made sure she saw everything that we all went through, from Mila getting tortured to me; I even showed her the conversation with my grandmother. I made her feel every emotion and every pain that Mila and I went through. She relived it all. She screams so loud; I know my father can hear her.

She keeps screaming loudly.

Until I let her go, she falls to the floor in a heap, breathing hard, grabbing at my chest, and tears flowing down her face.

"The son of a bitch. He told me that power meant nothing," she said with venom in her mouth. "He told me he never hurt you. He promised the Moon Goddess that he would never harm her child."

I look back at her. "What do you mean, the Moon Goddess?" I ask, coming closer. I make sure I kneel at her level. Anna follows suit but stays quiet. I look at Anna; she wants the answers just as much as we all do.

My mother sighs. "Your father was visited by the Moon Goddess when he brought Mila back to us; she said there is a prophecy that her child will become more powerful than anything, and she will control all the supernatural kind," she says while sitting back and leaning against the wall "He promised he would keep Mila safe and he didn't."

I get up and look at her. She had no clue what was going on.

"Mum, I must kill Yariel, but Grandma thinks Dad is working with him. I will have to kill him too, and I will after what he did to all of us," I say. I have had enough now; I turn to go back through the cell gate when I hear, "Emily, I will kill him."

I stop to a halt and look back at her, stunned. "Why would you do that?" I ask "He is your mate, it will kill you too."

She looks at me with the hatred and sadness spread across her eyes. Anna is leaning down with her hand on my mother's shoulder with her eyes closed, but she opens her eyes and gasps.

"You want revenge for what he did," Anna says.

My mum nods and looks back at me. "There is one part of that story your grandmother didn't know. Yariel took me, but he told me he lied to your father and took me. He thought I would give him what he and his hateful mate wanted: my unborn child. I was carrying a child when the coven was destroyed.

I gasped, and I had a bad feeling about what I was about to hear.

I look at her. The sadness in her voice gives it all away. "I gave birth to a baby boy. I was so happy. Your father was too, but after three days, your father and I fought. He wanted Yariel to train our son at a young age to become just like him. I disagreed with him, so I fought with him. Your father struck me hard. I lost consciousness. He wiped my memories until my aunt realized I was missing a child. She made a potion that made all my memories come back," she says, and she cries harder. "I was lying on the floor being held by Yariel while your father handed the baby over to Yariel's evil mate. Yariel's mate slit my son's throat in front of your father, who showed no emotion. She cast a spell which gave her all of his power."

She was crying even more now. "Once Yariel and his mate left, your father buried our baby, but he didn't do the proper ritual for our son; he buried him in a shallow grave where a wild bear came and ate his remains."

I turned around and threw up everywhere. My father's so heartless. I let the tears flow freely down my face.

"Emily, I don't want you to kill him. I WILL DO IT FOR YOU, FOR US," she says, seething, her cheeks wet from all the tears. "If it kills me, then I can be with your brother, but know this: I will be with you in here," she says, pointing towards my heart.

"I'm sorry, mama, you shouldn't have gone through that," I say, walking over to her and wrapping her in a hug again.

"It's ok. I will be with Andrew," she says. I look at her and smile.

"That was your brother's name, Andrew," she says with a small smile.

"You make sure Yariel is dead, and I will take care of your father," she says, and I hug her once more time.

"I love you, mama," I say with tears running down my face.

"I love you too, Emily," she says, and I turn with Anna and place a horrid face on, ready to face my father one last time.

I look back and see my grandmother standing outside the cell. She heard every word my mum had told me.

She walks in and straight to my mother, wrapping her around her arms. "It's okay," she says as my mother lets her tears come once again. My grandmother can watch over her.

But my mother looks up. "There were a few members of the town that were involved with the torture," she says, and my grandmother comes up to me and blows the last of the dust in my face.

The memories come. I look back, and rage fills me with what I saw.

"I am sorry, Emily, I was under his control as well," says my mother.

My grandmother looks at me. "I will watch her. You go back to the horrible man," she says with anger written all over her face, but her eyes are sad.

I had to go. I had to hear what that evil monster had to say.

As I approached the cell, I could hear the hatred spew from his mouth. After listening to my father, I knew I wanted him dead, not just for Mila, but for everyone he hurt.

We all leave after Miles punches my father in his nose.

We all head back to the pack house. Miles and Anna are walking ahead of us while I walk with Nate, but suddenly he asks, "Em, what happened? What memories did you get back? I need to know," but as soon as I look back at him, tears were flowing freely now down my cheeks. I close her eyes. "Nate, they tortured both of them. They held me back and made me watch. My mother gave her truth potions, which never gave them the answers," I say. "They made us look like fools, Nate, laughing at us when we were never around. Also, you have to know another thing, too."

I wipe the tears away with my sleeve and look directly at him. "I know more members of the town knew about the torture."

"WHO!" he snarls.

"Barry, the bear shifter, and Gerald," I said. "They were in the room when they did the torture to Mila. Gerald held me while they did it."

We both look at each other in silence. I don't want to tell him about what my mother just told me about Andrew. I need time to process it, and I also want to talk to my grandmother, Dane, and Mila first.

"Em, I'm worried about her. She might not want to know anyone if she finds this all out. I'm also worried that most of the town people and members of my pack are not to be trusted, especially after my father's outburst in the cell," Nate says suddenly.

I look back at him. "What outburst from your father?" I asked, looking confused.

Nate tells me everything.

After he told me, I nodded. "I think you are right. I think we should all gather in a secure room with no distributions and make a plan, but Nate, we have a war coming, and judging by Anna's voice earlier to my mother, it is coming sooner than we think," I say.

"Probably in a week, Em, that's what she meant to say," he says, but I shake my head in disagreement. "No, Nate, I think it's in days or hours. Not long, by the way, she was telling us."

He looks at me in thought. "We best get back to the pack house now. We need to deal with me, father." As soon as he says that, he runs towards the pack house, and I'm hot on his heels.

We need to get sorted and fast. This war will be here soon.
