MILA
We come into the clearing. I wanted to finish what I would say to Nathaniel and tell him we are not mates. But the scene before us was gruesome. There were over eighty rogues on the pack grounds, and more seemed to come into the territory.
Nate gives the loudest roar and starts running towards three rogues that have one person surrounding them. He growls and jumps, shifts into his large black wolf bites down on the wolf he landed on, and kills him.
Dropping the wolf's lifeless body to the ground, he roars and gives off the
Alpha aura, making pack members know he is there and also killing every single rogue.
"Mate might be an ass, but he knows how to fight," Sapphire says, sounding impressed as I feel her getting closer to the surface.
"Let's work together. We can't shift, but we can help them," I say. "We need to think about what to do with mate. Reject him, and we can leave the whole town and start again," Sapphire says.
"I am all for it. Let's go kill some rogues first," I say as I run towards the pack house to help all the women and children into the house, but I am staying to fight in human form. Sapphire and I emerge as one in human form; we are still tough, and we know how to kill wolves because of the training we had with George.
As I came closer to the pack house, I noticed the door was closed and bolted down tight. But soon, I realize from the corner of my eye that two children are crouched down in the corner of a wall, covering their ears and shutting their eyes. How the hell are they still out there?
I ran straight to them and bent down to make sure they were okay. "Are you both okay?" I ask as one boy opens his eyes. I recognized him immediately, the boy I saved outside the café. "Sam!"
He looks at me and luges into my arms. I hug him back. He looks up at me with a weak smile. "No one came for us. We were hiding here. But they are coming closer. I'm scared, Mila," he says, tears flowing down his cheeks.
I look down at him and the other boy. "What's your name?" I ask the other boy as I squeeze his knee, "mmmyyyy nnammee isss Sssimonnn," with a shaking voice.
I look around and notice that there is a silver knife lying on the ground. "Where did that come from?" I ask the boys. They looked at the knife and pointed to the dead rogue, which I saw lying motionless on the ground. "It's his. He tried to kill a warrior, but the warrior took a chunk of his neck out," says Sam quietly. I pick it up and look down at the boys. "I am going to protect you, okay? You stay down; don't move unless I tell you," I tell them. They nodded their heads.
I peek over the wall. Emily is running straight towards me. A rogue is right behind her. With a swift jump, I clear the wall and land behind her. I dodge him while sliding the knife through the side of his neck. He drops dead instantly. I am covered in his blood. I can feel Sapphire coming closer now in more form. She is growling in my head. I can see my claws appear, but we are still in human form. I look up to see three rogues approaching, but looking stunned, I know Sapphire is closer, and our eyes are glowing.
"Let's play," she said to me with a huge grin on her face. I lunge at them as Sapphire takes each one down, using the knife in one hand and claws.
Emily is now standing by the side of us. I also notice Sam and Simon standing against the wall right behind us. Emily must have moved them. One rogue leaps over the boys, but I move back to get in front of them till I can feel Emily's power building up. With one swift of her hand, she lounges the rouge away, making it fly straight into the trees.
The fighting is all ending; many of the wolves are running after the rogues who are trying to flee the fight.
"WARRIORS FOLLOW THEM AND MAKE SURE THEY DON'T GET FREE, KILL THEM," booms the Alpha's voice.
I look back to see Emily between Sam and Simon, holding their hands. "You saved me again, Mila," Sam says, letting go of Emily's hand and running into me, hugging me. "You are going to be covered in blood now. I am glad I was here," I say, which I was happy to admit.
We walk and I notice a man running towards us. Nathaniel comes to a complete stop in front of us as Sam lets me go of my hand and runs straight into his arms. "Brother, did you see what Emily did with her hands? Mila was amazing too," he says, sounding so amazed.
I look up at him, and he is staring back at me. "Thank you for saving my younger brother."
I looked shocked and smiled back, but that's when I heard her voice.
"Baby, I was so worried about you," Alyssa says while running towards him, straight into Nate's arms. She plants her lips on his. I turned away.
My smile goes; Sapphire is back, growling and pacing in my head. He looks at her and then back at me. Sam stares at her but returns to my side and holds my hand. He is shaking. "Pup fears her," Sapphire says, growling more intensely.
Alyssa looks up from Nate but turns her attention towards me and Emily. She smirks.
Emily wraps her arm around mine and glares back at her, but Dane comes running over, wraps his arms around Emily's waist, and kisses her neck. I push Emily's arm off mine as I turn. Emily grabs my hand and makes me look at her. I know she can sense my pain and Sapphire's hatred towards them. But Dane can see the look I am giving her. "Mila, please, can you talk to me? I want to help you. I don't enjoy seeing you in pain," he says.
I look at him and Emily. "We should tell him," Sapphire says as she tries her best not to be as angry as she is, realizing how it affects Emily. I realize that Sam and Simon are now gone.
"We can talk over there," I say, pointing to the tree clearing at the side. He nods and guides us there.
