MILA

As I reached the bottom of the stairs, Emily was waiting there with a mug of coffee, smiling at me.

"How do you feel?" she asks.

"I feel okay; Sapphire and I talked too," I say as she goes stiff. Her face turns worried, but I shake my head. "Everything's alright, we talked about stuff. I will talk to you later about it."

Emily looks at me for a moment but smiles. "Okay, Mila, I am with you every step of the way. I won't let anyone hurt you, not even my father," she says and turns to go to the door to the café where Gloria was standing.

"You know, you also got me, too. We are one with each other. No one can separate us, including the mate and even George," says Sapphire, the goddess. I wish I could hug her. I can feel the love for me through the bond we share.

"I wish you could too Mila. I will mask our scent now and watch everything that is going on around." She says with a hint of a giggle.

I walk towards the café door to find Emily and Gloria standing there on either side, watching me, smiling. "Don't drink that hideous potion. We will figure it out," says Gloria, while giving me a slight hug. "My son is being a very overprotective father to you, girls. He wants the best for you both and for you to be safe. But he is going about it the wrong way. Now, we best get out there. Some new wolves will come in, and before you say how do I know, Sapphire is on edge, and I can sense them approaching," she says.

Gloria is never wrong about Sapphire; I can feel her pace in my head, which is giving me a splitting headache.

"Sapphire, what's wrong? You okay?" I ask, getting a little concerned. "Mate is coming, and he isn't alone. I am masking us now," she says.

I take a deep breath; Emily grabs my hand and squeezes it tightly. "You are fine, Mila; we all got you, okay," she says as she heads through the door into the café.

I take a deep breath and walk in. I look around and notice some regulars. I walk behind the counter to serve some of them when the door opens, and his scent hits me hard.

Mint and forest.

I don't look up.

I keep doing what I am doing, making coffee for Mr. Thomas, an elderly bear shifter who needs his coffee like a pill. I turn around and hand it to him; I can sense the fear rolling off him as he knows the wolves have walked in. He looks at me, hands me the right amount of money for his coffee, and leaves.

I take a deep breath in and out; I look up at who's standing in front of me.

He looks straight at me. He is not moving, and his expression is unreadable, but his deep blue eyes pierce mine.

"What can I get you all?" I ask, trying to sound confident in what I am saying, trying not to sound scared or frustrated.

He stood there and stared, but I realized he wasn't the only one standing there. There are five other wolves with him, three men and two women.

A tall, dark, handsome-looking guy with brown hair and brown eyes smiles back at me. "Hi, we are members of the pack and would like to order here. Do you do any food?"

"Here are the menus, and someone will come along to take your order," I say with a smile.

"Thank you. My name is Eric, and this is Dane, Alyssa, Josie, and Nathaniel," he says

"That's nice. Take a seat over there, and someone will come to serve you," I say, sounding really put off suddenly. I know it's Sapphire, as I can feel her presence, and she is pissed at them.

"Mate and girl are out together. I can smell her all over him," she says, growling. I know she is pissed, and so am I.

"Don't worry. Breathe. We can't show ourselves," I say.

"That's rude; he introduced us. Not very good customer service skills you have," says the red-headed girl, who I think he named Alyssa. "What's your name?"

I am so glad; Gloria never wanted us to have name badges, but everyone around town knew us, so there was no need.

I look up at her and smirk. "I am busy; I have people to serve who are standing right behind you. Also, I don't have to give my name out, as I don't like people."

She snarled at me, but a deep growl came from somewhere, and I realized it was our mate.

I look back at him and stare at him. "Do we have a problem here?" I ask.

He seemed startled by what I said; he stepped forward to sniff the air by my head. "What are you? Human?" He says in the sexiest voice I have ever heard.

"What is it to you?" I snapped, "I don't have to answer your questions."

"He is the future Alpha of The Moon Valley Pack. Show him some respect!" Snarls Alyssa again.

I laugh slightly, letting Sapphire push forward a little, but not enough for anyone to see or sense that she is there. "He is not my alpha; I am human, if you must know. Now, can you please either find a table or leave?" I say, feeling frustrated.

They all stare back at me. Two of the men are smirking at me while the two girls snarl, but my mate is looking at me, shocked, but recovers when he realizes I am staring back at him.

"We will take a seat over there. We want some food and coffee," says Eric again, smirking at me while taking some menus.

"Take a seat then," I say.

They all walk over to the table, which is right in the corner, which gives them a magnificent view of the town's bay window and me at the counter. Once they all sat down, they grabbed the menus and looked through them, all except my mate. He just stared at me.

I wonder if he knows.

"He doesn't," says Sapphire, watching through my eyes.

I turn back around to serve the next customer.
