MILAAs we walked into the office, someone made some changes. It has a big round table with loads of chairs around it. We all take our seats. Some pack members, whom I have not met, but some familiar faces from the town, such as Gerald, Margo, and Barry. No Skylar. I see Dane, Emily, Sybil, George, and Gloria sitting close to everyone. Gloria looks at me with a warm smile and mouths me. "I'm happy for you." I blushed and mouthed. Thank you back.
I sit in between Nate and Archer. In front of me, Miles sits with two women on either side. He is still staring at me.
"Why is he looking at me all the time?" I ask Archer through our mind link.
"I think you will find out soon enough, little dove," he says while looking over at the curly blonde-haired woman, smiling at us.
"I think they know each other," says Sapphire. "Drack has gone quiet."
"Who do you think that man is?" I ask her.
She shakes her head. "I don't know, Mila, but his scent is familiar."
I look back at him in wonder, thinking about who he is. Sapphire is on high alert as we don't know what's happening. I can feel Nate's hand on mine. I look back at him. He looks tense.
"Mate thinks Miles wants us," says Sapphire. "You need to reassure him, Mila."
I lean into him. "Are you okay, Nate?" I squeeze his hand. He looks towards Miles and then back to me. "I don't like how he is staring at you," he says with a growl.
I look at him, our mate, who is protective of me. This is new. I lean up and kiss his cheek. He went all tense but soon calmed down and looked at me with a big smile. "I want you, no one else, Nate," I reassure him.
"Mate is happy, and so is his horny dog, too," Sapphire laughs.
I try my best not to let a giggle slip out.
When everyone has taken their seats, some Omegas come in with drinks for us all. They place five jugs of water in the middle of the table and a small pile of glasses by the side. Everyone gets up and helps themselves. Nate gets his and mine. Archer is grinning like a Cheshire cat when he watches us. We are all ready to get underway. Sitting in the middle of the table, Alpha Leon calls us all to order.
"We all know why we are here: the upcoming war with Devon and Yariel. Does anyone have any news?" Alpha Leon asks.
"The rogues have been quiet for the last few days, but they have grown in number. Skylar and a few others have been checking places where they last were spotted," says Barry.
That's where Skylar is. I know she wouldn't miss the war, I thought.
"What was her last report?" asks the man beside Alpha Leon.
"She says they have killed many wolves but have grown in numbers because of the footprints left behind. They will head back in a few days' time. She thinks the war will start soon," Barry says, looking grim. "What is the deal with this war? No one has mentioned anything, only that it was because of Mila and Archer."
I look taken back at Barry. He normally is so reserved about war, as he has faced many in his lifetime.
"What do you mean it is because of Mila and Archer?" says Miles, still staring at me. "Why would they want her and Archer?"
"What is your problem with me?" I ask, getting agitated with him. Is he assuming I caused this?
"I have no problem with you, as I have just met you. You look so familiar, I can't place it. I was only wondering why rogues want you and Archer," he says with a snarl.
