NATHANIEL

The carnage left after the war smelt of death but also victory. I look around at families and loved ones all hugging each other. They were all trying to come to terms with it all. Many losses came from the pack and also the townspeople. Many people were sitting on the ground, resting, and some were crying.

My father had my mother and younger brother Sam in his arms, my father covered in blood while my mother attended to his wounds before going to help the others. My father picks up Sam and hugs him. He turns to me and smiles.

Dane sits beside Emily on the ground with her grandmother, Gloria. Dane told me that Emily, not only killed Yariel but her father as well, with the help of her mother. She has to grieve and come to terms with everything that's happened.

Someone's hand comes on my shoulder. "We did it; we killed them," says Miles with a hint of happiness but also sorrow, as I know he lost three of his men. His mate, Ella, approaches us with Anna by her side. We all look defeated, but not because of the war; we miss Mila and Archer.

"They will be back," says Ella. "We all must have some hope and faith."

I look up at the sky. It's so black, and the stars are ever-so-bright. The moon is full and at its peak.

"I think we all need to rest, and we all can meet in the office in the morning to decide on what course of action we will take next," I say, looking at every person around me. They all nod and turn around, heading back into the pack house.

I look around and help prepare the entire dead for the funeral ritual. Families needed time to grieve their losses, and everyone needed to assess what had happened that day.

I looked towards a group of people from the town that were standing around two bodies, rouges who were lying next to them, shredded them. "It's Gerald and Barry," says Emily, who comes to the side of me. Her tear-stained face looking at them.

I nod, not knowing what to say.

After a few hours of helping everyone out, we were all back in our rooms. I went straight into Mila's; I took her note that I kept in the back pocket. I read it again.

Tears fill my eyes. I'm going to be Alpha. I need to keep my emotions in check. But I needed my mate.

"I want mate too," sighs Ox. "We need a bath. We stink."

I chuckle. I head into her bathroom and shower. I use her products that make me smell like her. I needed to smell either like her or her scent of chocolate and roses.

I close my eyes as I lean against the tiles. "Please, Moon Goddess, help me; I want to know that Mila is safe," I pray silently.

I open my eyes and shut off the water. I grab a towel and wrap it around my waist.

I opened the bathroom door to a woman who was the most gorgeous woman I had ever met. I looked at the note my mate had left me with a smile on her face. "She loves you, you know," she says.

I look back at her. "Who are you? How did you get in here?" I ask, sounding on edge. I don't like anyone talking about my mate.

"Calm, little Alpha, I'm Selene," she says. I took a little while to realize who she was. I gasp. "Moon Goddess"

She nods and smiles at me. "Yes, young Alpha, it is me. You can't look for your mate. She has to do something for herself. That warlock made my child suffer, and she needs to do this. She must also find someone to help her and her dragon guardian."

"I need to be with her," I ask. "Why can't I find her?"

She sighs. "You Alphas are all the same, but I know you want her with you. But you will have to wait. She has to do her duty as my creation first, but you also have a problem." I stare back at her.

She looks up at me with seriousness on her face. "Emily killed the two men who wanted to hurt all supernatural kinds, including wolves, and you killed Devon. You killed her son, and Emily killed her mate. She will come with vengeance for the both of you."

"Who are you talking about?" I asked.

"She has many mates; they are not her mates. She uses magic to have what she wants. She wants to be the most powerful person in the entire world. She wants Mila, but she can't have her. Yariel was one of her true mates. She has three, but now she is down to two," she says. "Aria is her name. Many believe she is the darkness against the light, but she is an evil sorcerer who steals other people's magic. She has some, but she is not that powerful. Protect Emily."

"Her name is Aria," she says finally.

I look at her. "We will. Emily is part of our pack. She is also Dane's mate," I said.

"Ah, Dane. He needs to mate and mark her before Aria comes. But she will find other ways to get back at both of you," she says. "She doesn't know about Mila being gone. Hopefully, they will return before the last war, so keep that part between you and Miles."

I look back at her, confused. "Miles," I asked.

She nods. "Yes, Miles, let him stay and help you. He never wanted the Alpha title; he wanted to know more about his family. Let him, and he will need to know about Mila, too."

She turns around, and I sense she is about to leave. "When will I see Mila?" I ask in a whisper.

She looks back at me and smiles. "It won't be long, young Alpha, but I believe she will send you some information soon enough to make sure you know she is alive. Keep an eye out for them. They will give you closure, young Alpha, and stand by your promise. No other women till she comes back, also listen to your wolf, he is good," she says and smiles as she disappears into thin air.

I look around the room in a daze.

"I'm a magnificent wolf, human listen to me now; you are not going to bed another whore again. We are waiting for our mate," growls OX. I can't help but chuckle. "Ok, magnificent wolf. I agree, but we need to make a plan that will protect Emily." He nods in agreement.

We put on boxers and climbed into Mila's bed. The pillow still has her scent on it, and I take in the scent. I wish she were here, but she has to do whatever she has to do.
