EMILY

I left with my grandmother holding my arm as we left the office, Dane followed behind, ensuring we were both safe. I love my mate so much.

I feel so drained due to what I heard about my father. He not only hurt me but my sister and her wolf, too. How could someone be so heartless? He tortured Sapphire so that he could control her. That explains a few things that happened whenever he was around for the last few months: Sapphire would growl or even ignore him. Mila noticed nothing, as he always made her forget.

I wish my sister would return; I want to explain and make everything right with her.

Being in a slight deep daydream, my grandmother guides me to my room, which is located opposite Mila's room. I sigh, looking towards her door.

I turn and walk into my room.

My grandmother turns to Dane. "Can you give us a few minutes? I need to talk to my granddaughter alone. She can tell you once we are done."

Dane looks back at me, making sure it's ok to leave. I smile and nod at him. He places a kiss on my cheek. "I have to speak to Nate, anyway. I have something to tell him," he says as he turns to leave.

Once he has left and out of sight. "Emily, dear, we need to talk about your father. I think you need to know some things before you consider everything. I know your loyalty lies with Mila, but you need all the facts and I know you will not like any of it," she says in a serious voice.

I look back at her and notice that she seemed torn about something. Her eyes burrowed together. "Go ahead, grandmother; I will hear what you have to say."

Her grandmother smiles back at me and nods. She takes a seat on the chair which is facing the window. "You see, as you know, your father is a proud man. He told you when you were younger about how we escaped our coven and most of them were dead because of some dark magic and rogues," she says as she looks at me. I nod. "Yes, that's what he told me. What's wrong?"

She sighs. "He told you some lies. Our coven was under attack, but the man Yariel that he mentioned, he said he started it." She looks back at me. I soon realize that there was sadness there in her facial features. "He did, but with more help from your father," she says.

I gasp. "What do you mean?"

She looks at me. A tear slides down her cheek. "He and Yariel were best friends. They both had mates from different beings. They wanted to be with them, but our coven was hell-bent on stopping them from being together. They had strict rules about other supernatural beings being together."

"Once the coven told them to leave their mates and reject them. Both men were livid. They didn't want anyone telling them who they could love. I wasn't part of the problem, as the rest of the coven went behind me. They knew I would not agree with it. They all came to an agreement and made it public knowledge that I was being notified. Your father thought I made the choice. I would never think about separating mates. He made a big scene and stormed off, saying we would pay," she says while looking out the window.

"He left the coven that night," she sighs, but her face says more. You can tell she was trying not to go back to that place. She turns to me...

"Your father turned up a few days later with Yariel and a few other members of a dark coven that wanted to get rid of us. They wanted everything that we worked for. I never believed in anything the other members said, but obviously the others thought the different species' mating was uncalled for. Your father started chanting, and fire exploded everywhere, catching every material that was in range. Women and children screamed while the men tried to put out the fire. The fire spread everywhere, killing everything that it touched, even people," she sighs, more tears sliding down her cheeks. "I lost good friends and family that night."
