MILA

Well, that was a long day at the café.

Everyone was talking about the town meeting and wondering what the council was going to suggest and do about the pack of wolves.

A few members received a message to meet up. Gloria is one of them.

Because of being seventeen, I and Emily were left in the café to lock up while everyone was waiting on the news. We were busy making sure everything was sorted and ready for tomorrow.

As I locked the front door, Emily received a message from George. "They came to an agreement. They are going to let the wolves in the town temporarily, for now, to make sure the people are okay with it before they make it permanent," she says.

She looks at me with a blank expression on her face. I think she is trying to read me.

"That's great," I say sarcastically. "I have to hide who I am now and have to be careful where I go again," I snarl. I am pissed. Wolves want to come into town and I have to hide because of Sapphire and me being a White Wolf.

Emily looks at me and gives me a small smile. "Dad wants you to come over tomorrow and he will explain and make sure we have a potion ready for you to mask your scent."

I nod at her and turn to head toward my apartment above the café. Emily grabs my arm and pulls me into a hug. I know she is worried about me. But I can't help how I feel. I am so pissed. I hug her back. "I will see you at the house in the morning," she says as she turns to leave and heads to the car. She waves me goodbye and drives away.

"You okay Mila, you seem pissed," says Sapphire.

"We have to be extra careful now that the wolves are coming into town," I say, sounding annoyed. "Can we go for a run now? Think we both need it and we don't know when we can go for another run next time," I say. Sapphire is stretching her paws and wagging her tail.

"Yeah, we should, but we go behind the café. The pack won't be there," she says with a sigh. I make sure the café is locked up and I place my keys under the flowerpot and strip off. Sapphire shifts and runs straight into the woods behind the café.

Her paws bound along with the dirt, lifting leaves as we pass. The wood of night is so peaceful. You can hear every single creature stirring and flowers coming to life. The move in the wind gives off all the scents that they have combining the fragrance of the forest. I wish we could stay here in the forest forever. Sapphire heads up the mountain path, which looks over the whole of the town. We look over the branches. We can see that they have built an enormous mansion on the new pack territory.

"Stay in the shadows, Sapphire. We don't want anyone to know we are up here," I say quietly. Seeing everything through Sapphire's eyes is amazing. Her senses show me and make me feel everything, too.

We lie on the ground in between two trees. No one can see us from here, but we can see down on everything that is our home.

After an hour, Sapphire has fallen asleep but is suddenly awake. But the stent has rotten eggs and death.

Rogues, three of them.

Sapphire gives off the aura that we are not there and runs through the trees. They are coming close to us and they are fast. We have been running for fifteen minutes when we both realize that we are heading into the pack territory. This isn't good.

"We need to hide Sapphire," I say. "Let's shift back and I can climb a tree till they go," I suggest, but Sapphire ignores me. She keeps running, but we suddenly come to a complete stop when I can smell that scent again, mint and forest, the intoxicating scent that makes me want to have whatever it is.
