MILA

I ran upstairs to my apartment. I needed to get my arm sorted and checked.

All the claw marks were completely gone because of my healing as a werewolf. But I needed to get the blood off me; I was covered in a lot.

I pull at my clothes and place them in the hamper. I go straight into the shower and let the water run all over me. I need it to be hot. My muscles are achy. I haven't fought in human form, well, not for a while. It took a lot out of me.

As I get out after a quick shower and throw on a pair of shorts and a T-shirt, I can hear the commotion outside. Thank goddess, Gloria put tinted windows in, as I can see out, but no one can see in. I look out to see some pack members looking around for a body.

Our mate is there. He is sniffing the air. Sam is looking at him but is smiling. I hope that kid can keep a secret. I hear a click coming from my front door. "So you saved the boy then," Emily's voice comes through. I just nod, and she quietly walks over to see what I am staring at.

I nod. "Yeah, had to kill the rouge in human form, but Sapphire helped."

I look at her as she stares out, and I realize she is staring at that guy who was looking at her when he walked into the cafe. I smirk. "So you also have an admirer, then."

She blushes. "I think he might be my mate. My witch magic was going off the charts, but since Dad gave me the bracelet to mask my scent, it is hard to tell," she says, still staring at him.

"Sapphire told me that the soon-to-be Alpha is our mate," I say suddenly.

Emily is quiet for a moment, but without looking at me. "I know she told me she wanted to make sure he won't hurt you, as he is a man whore," she says with an enormous sigh.

"Well, he clearly is a man whore," as I look back at him. A girl is holding onto his arm. She was in the cafe with him earlier. I think the other guy said her name was Josie. She looks small with strawberry-blonde hair and blue eyes.

I turn around, having seen enough, and sit on the couch.

I can hear Sapphire retreating in the back of my mind; she is back to being pissed off at our mate again.

Emily turned and looked at me, walking over to the other side of the couch. She sits with both legs under her. "I think you should be careful, but it is rare to find a mate too."

I look away, but she still carries on. "There was a shift in the air when the pack came into town. It feels like something is coming and will be very bad."

"Sapphire, and I can feel it too," I say. "Rogues never come this far into town, and I know that all the rogues on the cliffs were dead. No one saw me; well, I don't think anyone did. They seem to either be looking for someone or something. They are getting bolder."

Emily stays quiet; I can tell she is thinking about it. "Yeah, they are."

Suddenly, Emily's phone rings, and she picks it up, looks up at me, and mouths, "Dad," knowing full well that means I have to be quiet.

She answered the phone, and I listened in with my hearing. "Where are you, girl?" He says in a rough voice.

"We are in Mila's apartment. We just made food," she says, looking over at me.

"Did you tell her what happened? Did she see anything?"

"Yeah, Dad, I told her she saw nothing," she lies. We both know if George found out I protected that kid, goddess knows what he would have done.

"What did the boy say?" I can hear the worry in her voice, thinking Sam would say something to the pack.

"He didn't say who saved him, only that someone pushed him out of the way, but he didn't know who it was," he sighs, taking it as a good sign, but I can sense something coming.

After a few moments, "Well, we just found out. The red-headed girl saved him. She just confirmed it with the soon-to-be Alpha." I look at her, stunned. Something is telling me I need to look out of the window.

Sapphire is growling loudly in my head.

I get up and look out the window.

From what we can see, Sapphire growling and standing on all four paws.

The red-headed girl and our mate kissed each other, tugged, and pulled at each other's clothes. He has her up against the wall.

Suddenly, I feel pain in my chest. The pain gets worse, and very excruciating tremors go through me. My stomach feels like I have been punched a thousand times, repeatedly. Tears are freely falling down my face as I watch my mate have sex with the woman who claims she saved the boy.

I caught a glimpse of the redhead, looking up at the window and smirking as my mate pounds into her. I can hear her moans. I turn away but only fall in complete pain. I am doubled over. Emily is standing, staring at the scene in front of her. She looks on in complete shock.

"Dad, I have to go," she says, whispering as she shuts her phone off.

"Mila, Sapphire," she says, crouching down by us.

The pain gets worse. Sapphire is rolling around in my head, whimpering and in pain. He hurt us, both of us. Emily grabs me and holds me tight. I have to let out the pain. On cue, Gloria comes running in with a worried look on her face as she stares at her two granddaughters hugging on the floor. One is in excruciating pain, while the other one is trying to help her sister.

"Oh, my poor dear," she says, whispering as she sits on the couch nearest to us and runs her hand through my hair as she used to when I was upset as a child.

After a few moments, the pain stops, but I hurt all over. I can't move from the floor.

Tears are still running down my face. I know jackass didn't know he was my mate, but I felt every single thing he just did.

The pain I am in is so much that I pass out into the darkness as my body gives out in Emily's arms.

All I can hear before I go into the darkness is Sapphire crying. Our mate has hurt us both.
