MILA
Sapphire keeps running. We have been running for over an hour. Through the forest, the wind has picked up, and I can feel the power running through us, guiding us to where we need to go.
Suddenly, I am hit with loads of flashing memories that come back to me. A woman who looks like me is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. A man appears; he looks the same age as the woman. He is strong and built, with sandy hair with grey flecks going through it, but his blue eyes catch me; they are so piercing.
More memories rippling through a man with the most dazzling features are now there. He looks like a Greek god. He has short black hair and piercing green eyes. Why does he look familiar? This man stayed with us for a while, then memories of George, Sybil, and Emily being at a cabin, too.
"That man is who we are running to," says Sapphire suddenly as she watches the memories flash through me like a tidal wave.
"What do you mean?" I ask, trying not to think too much as my head is overflowing with memories. I'm trying to deal with them while Sapphire runs deeper into the forest. We are miles away from the pack and further from the town.
"He can explain more, but Mila, we are getting close. By the oak tree ahead, he is waiting for us," she says.
We slowed down. When we reached the clearing, we saw the oak tree. There, leaning against the tree, was the man. He had his head down, but as soon as we came closer, "You arrived, my little dove," he said in a calming voice. Sapphire stops and stares at him, cocking her head to the side too.
"Little dove, please shift so I can see you," he says. "Wait, I have some clothes for you." he places a pair of shorts and a T-shirt with flip-flops by the side. "I will turn around," he says and turns immediately around.
Before we shift, another voice echoes inside our mind. "We won't hurt you. We missed you," it says. It sounds completely different from the man's voice.
While Sapphire was transfixed by the voice, she suddenly shifted back into our human form. I put on the clothes on the floor by my side.
After I change, I look up to see the man looking back at me. "Well, you have grown my little dove," he says with a smile.
I look back at him, but I feel slightly uncomfortable. "Pardon my disrespect, but who are you?" I ask, trying not to sound scared.
He looks at me blankly. "Ah, your wolf is an amazing creature. We can feel she has a kind spirit. We had met before my child when you were 4 years old. You and your mum saved me from being kidnapped by rouges. My name is Archer," he says and takes a bow.
"I think we should start walking back, but in human form, it might take a few days to get back, but we have loads to discuss. Your wolf says you are slowly getting your memories back. Drack can see them, also he can see you have been training and keeping well," he says.
I keep quiet, trying to make sense of it all. Then a memory spiked through. I suddenly stopped and closed my eyes. The memory was of Archer playing dolls outside on the porch of the cabin with me and Emily, but suddenly, the memory changed quickly. He wanted to teach me a few basic moves. I realized that he, not George, taught me the basic moves. Archer was a caring man. He always watched me and made sure I learned everything about every supernatural being.
I opened my eyes; Archer was smiling back at me widely. "That was a wonderful memory, I can tell," he said and turned around.
We didn't talk for a little while. I knew I wanted to know who that woman was in my memories. She looked so familiar, but I needed to know. "Who's that woman in my memory? She looks like me," I suddenly said out, too loud, startling Archer and a rabbit that ran by us.
Archer arches an eyebrow. "George was supposed to tell you when you turned 18," he suddenly stops, and his eyes turn white. What the hell?
Archer's eyes returned to those dazzling green eyes again, but they were full of sadness. "My little dove, her name was Faith. Mila, she's your mother," he said softly.
I'm stunned that the woman in my memories was my mother. Why couldn't I remember her?
We carried on walking, but suddenly I was hit with another memory, but this memory was the one I had been seeing every night in my nightmares, the big black ugly looking wolf with thick matted fur with that big scar running down his face and scary yellow eyes. He killed a man in front of me, the man with sandy hair. He then slashed my mother's throat.
I screamed out as I opened my eyes once more. Archer was looking on with guilt and anger all over his face. I was slowly having a panic attack. "That wolf has been invading my dreams lately. Why?" I said, looking up at him. He says nothing, but I have had enough of this. "Why? What does he want with me?" I said, realizing I was shouting at him.
Archer looked at me and walked towards me. "I think we should stay here tonight. I think we should talk before we go back," he said softly.
I look around and sit on a tree log, Archer watching my every move. "I'm going to look for some wood to make a fire," he says, then leaves me.
My mind was going twenty miles an hour, living through each of the memories that came back to me. I didn't even notice Archer coming back until he placed the wood in a circle, and then, with just a flick of his finger, and fire appeared. I looked at him, shocked. What the hell was he?
"He is a Dragon shifter," says Sapphire softly. Drack is his dragon. He has been looking through all our memories and what we can remember. Drack hates that they could not come to us sooner. Archer and Drack are our protectors."
"What do you mean, protectors?" I asked.
"Dragon protectors are dragons that choose to protect someone. That means something to them," she says softly.
"We will protect you; we want to keep you safe," another voice says, sweeping into my mind.
I looked confused. "Drack can connect to you through your mind; he can do so because of the connection you and he have," Archer says. "When you space out, do you talk to your wolf? What's your wolf's name?"
I look back at him. "I guess so, Sapphire. My wolf's name is Sapphire. She has been the only one who hasn't been keeping anything from me my whole life," I say to him with a small smile.
"Ah, George told you sooner, but obviously, I wanted to see my little dove, so I let the aura flow for you to find me," Archer says.
"What is going on?" I ask him, "I know I still haven't had all my memories back as some things make little sense, but I need to know what happened." But before I can say anything, another memory comes through, but this one is hard to master; I close my eyes and watch as the evil wolf who dominated my dreams over the years stands in front of me and shreds part of my body, and I fall limp. I open my eyes with tears freely flowing down my cheeks.
"I died," I said quietly.
