MILA
I smile at him.
"Your pack is in the café. Go around to the front of the café," I say. "But I have a request or, well, more like a secret you will have to keep."
"What's that?" He asks with a weird look on his face. "Don't tell anyone who saved you, please, I don't want people knowing," I say as I move to get up onto my feet.
Sam looks at me with curious eyes as I stretch my arms out to check them. "Why? You saved me. My brother will be happy with that."
"I know, but I'm sorry, but no one should know, not even your pack, Sam. This town is my home and I don't want there to be any problems," I say as I help him to his feet.
I smile at him. I have to think on my feet about what to say to him next.
"I tell you what, you don't tell anyone about me. Just tell them someone pushed you out of the way, and you didn't see who it was, and I will meet you at the border and show you around, maybe tomorrow," I say.
I feel my pockets. Once I found what I was looking for, I grabbed my mobile.
I grabbed a piece of paper that was nearby on the floor, and lucky for me, because of the café; I put a pen in my hair through the elastic band that held my ponytail tight. I wrote my number and handed it to him.
"What's this?" He asks, looking at my number.
I smiled down at him.
"My number. When you want to come for a tour of the town or even just want to sneak away, I will meet you here," I say to him, pointing to the clearing behind the café.
He looks at where I am pointing and smiles. "You would do that for me," he asks.
I nod and turn to him. "Yeah, only if you keep this a secret. I don't want anyone knowing," I say.
I was about to walk away, but a small pair of arms suddenly stopped me from wrapping around my waist from behind. Sam hugged me. I smile to myself. I turn around and place my arms around him. Luckily, my wounds have healed, or he would have been covered in my blood.
"I will keep your secret. What's your name?" He asks.
"Mila," I say.
I turn to leave. "Mila, why don't you want anyone to know you are a werewolf?" He asks, catching me off guard.
My blood ran cold, and I turned to look at his blue eyes staring back at me. I gasp.
"How did you know?" I asked.
He looks at me and pauses for a few seconds. "I'm a werewolf, but my wolf is not here yet, as I'm only nine. I have another three years till mine comes. But I can smell your scent when you fought that rogue," he says, staring at the lifeless body on the floor but turning to look at me. "I won't tell anyone, as I can keep a promise."
"Do you think we can trust him?" I ask Sapphire, who seems more curious about the boy than I am. "I think we can," she says, wagging her tail. I think my wolf likes it. "He smells like mate," she says suddenly.
They must be siblings.
I look at him and smile. "Sam, can you keep another secret? My wolf is very different. I don't really like wolves much as they are horrible, especially the ones like that man. I don't want anyone to know, and most of our town knows, but we keep it a secret as I help deal with the rogues."
He is looking at me with eyes in wonder. "Your wolf is different. How?"
"He asks loads of questions," Sapphire giggles at me. "I like him."
I giggle. "My wolf Sapphire thinks you ask too many questions, and she likes you. She is just a little different, Sam." I have to leave out the power we have. I don't want to scare him.
Sam laughs. "Sapphire sounds cool. Ox, my brother's wolf, is grumpy and doesn't like to play," he says.
"SO, can you keep my secret? I would like for you to be my friend. To be honest, I only have one friend, but it is cool to be friends with you," I say.
His face brightens, and smiles.
"Yes, I will keep everything a secret, Mila, and I definitely will be your friend, too," he says, giving me one last hug.
He turned to walk to the front of the café to go in, and I headed back in through the back way.
As I walked in, I ran into Gloria, who had a big smile but looked at my arms, and her eyes got big. "All sorted now," she says, but there are loads of commotion out the front. Gloria keeps looking at me.
"She knows what happened," Sapphire says and smiles.
Gloria nods as if she is talking to Sapphire and me. I nod.
"I think you best clean yourself up. Stay upstairs for a while, as I think they will want to check the grounds or something, but they won't find him there. I contacted Barry a few seconds ago, and he is disposing of the body as we speak," she says, turning but looking over her shoulder at me
"He's a nice young man, just stupid and horny. He will come around, my dear," she said while giving me a wink as she went through the door.
Sapphire giggles while I'm left gaping at her.
