Chapter 52

Chris pov...

Today we were finally gonna celebrate Sammie's 30th birthday. I had originally planned everything for her birthday itself, but Sophie got sick and i had to tell Sammie what was going to happen. We discussed it and decided to postpone the party. I was more heartbroken about it than Sammie. I was just bummed as the whole surprise party fell through and i had to tell her, spoiling the surprise. Sammie didnt seem to be bothered, she was saying that it would still be special if we did it later and she would act surprised.... She didn't even want her gifts yet.

As she was still sleeping i got out of bed and woke Sophie so we could make Sammie breakfast in bed. We where making her favorite waffles with whipped cream and fruit. When we where ready we put everything on a tray and i gave Sophie one of the gifts for Sammie to already open. We walked into our bedroom and Sophie jumped on the bed waking Sammie.

"Happy birthday ma..." Sophie said and Sammie groaned, not because she was woken up. But Sophie had noticed i called my mother ma and not mommy and was starting to say it to Sammie. Much to my liking as the face Sammie was pulling every time Sophie said it was priceless. Sophie began singing the happy birthday song and i joined in placing the tray before her after she sat up. I gave her a kiss. Sophie crawled underneath the blankets next to Sammie and got comfortable.

"Give mommy her gift..." I said smiling and Sophie pulled out the little box giving it to Sammie. "What is this?" Sammie asked Sophie. "Gift!" Sophie squealed making both me and Sammie laugh. She looked at me and i smiled. "Open it..." I said feeling nervous hoping she would like it. She opened the gift and looked at the locket with a smile but when i took the locket out of the box and opened it showing the picture, she got tears in her eyes. "You like it?" i ask.

She looked up at me through her tears and nodded. "I love it... It is perfect..." She said pulling Sophie in for a hug kissing the top of her head. "Thank you, sweetheart." She said to Sophie who smiled... "Put it on mommy!" She squeals and i smile and help her put it around Sammie's neck.

"I have other gift to" Sophie said all of a sudden crawling out of bed and running out of the bedroom. I sat next to Sammie. "Happy belated birthday baby..." I mumble and she cupped my face pulling me into a kiss. "It is wonderful Chris, i love the photo..." She said smiling.

"Look mommy!" Sophie said holding up a rolled-up piece of paper with a ribbon around it. Sammie took it and pulled the ribbon of revealing a drawing Sophie had made at ma's. It was a drawing of Sophie and Mommy and Daddy, Sophie explained. Sammie smiled lifting Sophie into her lap hugging her tight and giving Sophie kisses all over. "Thank you, sweetheart these are the best presents ever." Sophie smiled and stole a strawberry from Sammie's plate. After a few minutes Sophie got bored watching mommy eat and went to play.

"Do you really like it?" I ask playing with the locket around her neck. "I dont like it, Chris..." She whispers and my heart sank. "I absolutely love it." She kissed me again. "Good, because this is only the first surprise." I said smirking. "Chris..." She groaned. "I told you not to go overboard." I smiled at her, "dont worry baby i didn't. But you only turn 30 once..." I say and Sammie roll her eyes... "Yeah and you only turn 31 once... and 32, 33, ,34... and so on and so on..." She says and i chuckle. "Well then i will make sure to make every birthday special..." I whisper and kiss her again...

"Hmmmhm." She said raising an eyebrow. I smirked. "Just enjoy it sweetheart, you deserve it." I say and she blushed. She fed me a strawberry and ate the rest of her breakfast. I left to find Sophie to get her ready for the day as Sammie went to shower and get dressed.
