Chapter 27

Chris pov...

Seeing Sammie struggle just to get out of the car is heartbreaking... When i had greeted ma, she asked why Sammie stayed in the car. I told her she needed a minute... But when we looked at her, she was crying... Ma told me to take Sophie inside and that she would talk to Sammie... Sophie was still sleeping in my arms so i had put her down in the guestroom what would become her room... I had waited anxiously in the kitchen suppressing the urge to walk out and see what was going on...  I dont know what ma had said to Sammie but about an hour later i heard the front door open... I could not suppress my anxiety and worry anymore and walked to the front door, only to just see Sammie step over the threshold wither eyes closed, her face is all puffy and her cheeks are still wet from crying...

She takes a deep breath opens them looking around while taking another tentative step and ma closes the door behind her... She looks around... I see some sort of recognition in her eyes... Then her eyes meet mine and she bites her lip to stop her from crying... She is fidgeting but then all of a sudden, she walks up to me and wraps her arms around me... She holds me tight as if she is scared that i will disappear and i wrap my arms around her and kiss the top of her head holding her equally tight... I tear up myself and look at ma who is smiling wiping away a few tears to...

"I am sorry..." She whispers and i sigh... "You have nothing to be sorry about... I am just happy you are here..." I whisper and kiss the top of her head again... "Me to..." She whispers and she pulls back and looks up... "I know it does not look like it, but i really am..." She says and stands up on her toes... I smile feeling relieved that even though she is having a hard time, she is glad she is here... But even on her toes she is not tall enough to kiss me, so i lean in and close the distance pressing my lips on hers. 

When we break the kiss, she sighs and leans her forehead against my chest... "I am so tired... I just wished i could stop all these emotions, that i could stop overthinking... Just so tired..." She sighs and i caress her cheek. "I think i am going to take a nap..." She says and i nod... "I will unpack the car..." I say and she nods... She then turns to ma who is still watching us... She walks over to her and hugs her whispering a thank you... 

I watch Sammie disappear towards the bedrooms and let out a deep sigh... Ma walks over to me and pats my cheek. "I am scared..." I whisper and ma sighs to... "I know sweetheart... But she needs time..." Ma says and i shake my head... "What if she never can get over it... What if she will never feel at home here..." I say taking in a sharp breath... "Maybe you should talk with her about moving..." She says and i am surprised... "Moving?" I say and ma nods... "Maybe a fresh start... Without the constant reminder of the past..." Ma says and i nod... "Maybe..." I mumble and ma smiles... "Talk with Sammie about it... Be patience..." She says and i nod... 

I walk back to the kitchen and grab a drink from the fridge handing one to ma... I smile as the content of my fridge is nothing like i am used to having... Juice boxes... Fruit... stuff to make dinner and breakfast... I rarely cooked when i was alone... I think that is going to change... My kitchen... My home will be used like it supposed to... It will be filled with love and laughter... Like i always had dreamed off... I was no longer alone and that made me smile... I have a family...

But ma's words were still ringing in my head... Move... Is that what was needed... If that would help i was not against it... I would pack up everything today and leave this house if that meant that Sammie would be happy... Maybe that was the right thing to do... I should talk with Sammie about that... To see what she thinks, to see if that is something that she wants... 

"What time do you have your appointment with the new manager?" Ma asks and i snap out my thoughts. "3..." I say and ma smiles... "It is all going to be okay sweetheart..." She says and i smile... "I hope so... I am nervous... Nervous on what Kim is going to do when she eventually gets the news that Sammie and Sophie are here and that i will no longer want her working for me..." I say and ma nods... "Yeah i get that... Talk that over with your manager tomorrow... Put together a new team and make sure that she can't get to Sammie and Sophie..." Ma says and i nod... 

"I just can't believe that i have to put together a whole new team... Lawyer... PR... Everything... Everyone needs to be replaced as they are all her minions... And it is just... A lot..." I say and ma nods... "Yes... It is a lot... But think about what you are getting in return... Your family..." Ma says and i smile... "Yeah..." I say smiling from ear to ear... She chuckles and takes a deep breath... "I am going home... Call me when you need something and dont worry... Deep breaths and patience... It will all be okay..." Ma says and i nod... I hug her and walk her to her car... 

As i walk back in the house i hear a little voice sounding a little bit scared... Sophie had woken up... So, i walk towards the guestroom only to find her in the hallway clutching her giraffe and crying a little... "Hey princess... I am here, it is okay... Dont be scared..." I say and lift her in my arms... She snuggles into me and i smile rubbing her back... 

"That was scary, huh.... Waking up in a strange home..." I say and she lifts her head and nods... "Well, what do you say i will show you around..." I coo and she nods again but cuddles into me again...

I show her around... Showing our bedroom first... "Look mommy is asleep to..." I whisper and she giggles. I show her around and when in the living room her eyes grow wide looking at the big TV. I chuckle... "Do you want a snack princess?" I ask and she nods. I walk to the kitchen and sigh... I dont have a highchair... I sit her down on ground not wanting her to fall... I make her a fruit snack and lift her in my lap sitting down at the table... 

After her snack we watch some cartoons until Sammie wakes up and joins us... She snuggles into me and i smile... "We need to go shopping soon... I dont have the things you need for Sophie..." I mumble and Sammie chuckles... "Let me freshen up... If you get Sophie ready, we can go..." Sammie mumbles and i look at her surprised... "Right now?" I ask and she nods... "Yeah... Right now... Let's get it over with..." Sammie says and i smile...

While Sammie freshens up i get Sophie changed and ready... While Sammie does Sophies hair i quickly unload the car and then we are on our way to the store...
