The next morning Hallie woke up at six. She got up carefully not to wake up Sam and got dressed. After she got dressed she went over to the bed.

"Sam." She said softly. "Wake up." He opened his eyes. "I have to go."

"Wait." He sat up on the edge of the bed. "Let's go to breakfast."

"I can't." "Max is coming and we're going to breakfast." Sam rolled his eyes. "Don't start."

"Start what?"

"You know what."

"Are you gonna tell me last night was a mistake to?"

"I don't know what last night was." "I just know it was nice, I really enjoyed it and I have to go."

"I love you."

"I know that Sam." She left.

Hallie went home and showered.

An hour and a half later Hallie was in the living room. The front door opened.

"It's me." Max said.

"Hi honey."

"Hi." They kissed. "Ready to go?" "I'm sure you and little Max are hungry."

"We're starving,"

They were at the restaurant eating and talking.

"What would you think about moving to Plainview Hallie?" Max asked. "I think it makes sense with the baby coming and everything." "I really want you to live with me to."

"Alright."

A week later Max was at the DNA testing center. It was just him and the man taking the swab in the room.

"Do you results come back to you?" Max asked.

"Yes, I run the lab."

"If the baby doesn't come back as mine, I'm afraid my fiancée will go back to her ex-husband." "I love her." "I can't let that happen."  "I'll pay you fifty-thousand dollars right now to make sure the results say I'm the father, even if I'm not."

"You've got a deal."

"Great." "Do you have Venmo?"

"Yes."

"What's your name?" Five minutes later the transaction was complete.

"The money's in my account." "Congratulations dad."

"Thank you." Max left with a big smile on his face.
