A Love Lost

Chapter 30

Before coming back from maternity leave, both Hallie and Max decided to sign with WWE.

Thirteen years had passed. Hallie and Max had been happily married for twelve years. Max still worked for the WWE. In addition to their son, a now thirteen year old Max Jr, they had two daughters. Eight year old Melissa and five year old Ashley. After the birth of Ashley Max had a vasectomy. After Melissa was born Hallie decided to become a stay at home mom and officially retired. However she still had a fan base and still did sporadic autograph signings. Melissa and Ashley both had a strong resemblance to Max. Max Jr. however looked more like Hallie. Certain things that Max Jr. did and some of his mannerisms reminded Hallie of Sam. She never understood why.

It was Max's fortieth birthday. He didn't know it but Hallie had a surprise birthday party planned for him. She'd spent the last three months planning it. It was a Saturday afternoon. Max had just walked through the door after two weeks on the road.

"I'm home." He said. All three kids came up to him immediately. They sang happy birthday to him, as Hallie watched. "Thank you."

"Happy birthday dad." Max Jr. said.

"Thank you junior." "Did you take good care of your mom and sisters while I was gone?"

"Yeah." "Wanna play some video games?"

"Yeah but let's play one your sisters like to." "Go get it ready, I'll be right there." Max Jr. went upstairs.

"Happy birthday daddy." Melissa said.

"Thank you."

"Hi daddy, happy birthday." Ashley said.

"Thank you." He said. "Go upstairs with your brother, I'll be up as soon as I say hi to mommy." They went upstairs. Max went up to Hallie. "Hi."

"Hi." Hallie said. "Happy birthday."

"Thank you." They kissed. "I can't believe I'm forty."

"At least you're not almost fifty."

"You're forty-eight baby."

"That's almost fifty." "The kids and I are taking you out to dinner tonight."

"You don't have to make a big fuss."

"I already made the reservations."

"Alright."

"Go play with the kids." "We're play later, privately."

"Sounds good." "I love you."

"I love you too." He went upstairs.

Later that night they were at the restaurant. Max was confused when the hostess led them to the back of the restaurant. Double doors were opened and everyone popped out and yelled. "Surprise." Co-workers from both WWE and AEW were there. Everyone spent the next few hours having a great time.

Later that night after putting the kids to bed, Hallie and Max were getting ready for bed themselves.

"Tell me the truth." Hallie said. "Did I get you?"

"I didn't suspect a thing." They both got in bed. She straddled him. "It was a great surprise and a great party."

"So... She took off her nightgown. "What does the birthday boy want now?"

He smirked. They kissed. "I love you so much baby."

"I love you too."
