Stella's POV:
I was happy when I found out he’d be living upstairs. I felt relieved when Jeni accepted my apology and forgave me for playing a prank on her. I wanted to tell her that I saw Mathew and that he’d be living upstairs, but I couldn’t, since she wasn’t in a good mood.
I went upstairs to talk to Mathew and his cousin. Ipo enna reason solli pesa pogalam (What reason can I use to talk to them?). I was thinking.
Idea!!! (Idea!!!)
Snacks edhachum venumanu ketutu vara pogalam (I thought of asking if they wanted any snacks and go over). Nice idea.
I quickly hurried to their house and rang the doorbell.
His cousin opened the door.
"Ada, vanga, vanga. Ennachu nga?" (Hey, come in, come in. What happened?), he asked.
"Illa nga. Evening ayiduche edhachum tea, coffee venumanu kekka vandhen." (No, I just came to ask if you wanted tea or coffee, it's already evening.) I lied.
"Aiyo, no need of all those formalities. Let it be," he said.
"Aprm, marandhen poiten. Unga name ennaga? Kekave illa." (By the way, I forgot to ask. What's your name? I didn’t ask earlier.) I asked.
"I'm Jonah," he said.
"I'm Stella," I said.
He smiled. I was searching for Mathew, but he was nowhere to be seen.
"Avanga enga? Neenga matum irukinga?" (Where is he? Are you the only one here?) I asked curiously.
"Avangala? Oh, avana, Avan kelambitanga avanga veetuku." (Him? Oh, he went home, he left for his place.) he said.
My smile faded away. What does he mean by his house?
"Avanga veeda? Apo avanga Inga shift aagalaya?" (His house? So, he won’t be living here?) I asked.
He laughed.
"Ada, neenga vera. Naan dhan inga vazha poren. Avan veedu Besant Nagar, Stella. Avanuku sondha veedu iruku. Ennaku furnitures eduthu veika dhan Avan Inga vandhan." (Hey, nope. I’m only going to stay here. His house is in Besant Nagar, Stella. He has his own place. He just brought furniture here for me to set up.) he said.
Haiyo, ellam pochu. (Oh no, everything's gone.) I thought, avaru Inga vazha poraru u kanavellam kanden. (I thought he would be staying here, and I was dreaming.)
"Apo, avaru Inga varamatara?" (So, he won’t be coming here?) I asked.
"Avan varuvanga. Avanga amma Inga dha vandhu thanga poranga oru 2 masathuku so kandipa amma va parka Inga varuvan. Yen, ennachu?" (He’ll come. His mom is coming to stay for about 2 months here, so he will definitely come to see her. What happened?) he asked with curiosity.
Oh, wow. I'm gonna meet my future mother-in-law.
"Epo varanga avanga amma?" (When is his mom coming?) I asked.
"Nalaiku." (Tomorrow.) he said.
I nodded and went back to my house.
"Enga d poitu vara?" (Where did you go?) my mom asked.
I lied to her, saying I went to the terrace. If she finds out I'm talking to men, she will scold me.
I entered my room and texted Jeni.
"Jeni, I'm feeling happy, d. Un kita epdi solradhunu therla." (Jeni, I'm feeling happy, I don't know how to tell you.)
"Ipo endha paiyana parthu manasa pari kudutha?" (Did you give your heart to some guy?) she asked.
