Stella's POV:
I know whatever I'm doing is not right, but I'm left with no other option.
It's been a week since he got discharged from the hospital, and he never lets me touch him.
The doctor said that he might or might not regain his memory, and it hardly bothered me. Even if he gained it back or not, he's going to hate me and torture me. My life is not going to change in any way.
After coming back home, he told Joe to arrange for a personal maid to take care of him.
"Dei, Joe. I need your help."
"Sollu, da."
(Tell me, da.)
"I need someone to take care of me. Arrange pannu."
"Edhuku da? Adhan Anni irukangale."
(Why? Sister-in-law is here, right?)
"Avala Anni nu kupdadha and please tell her not to wander in front of me. I need a caretaker and ennaku onnum Ava care panna thevai illa," he said.
(Don’t call her sister-in-law. I don’t need her to take care of me.)
He said it so loudly that I was able to hear it in the kitchen. I didn’t bother, as all this has become routine for me. I don't have any emotions towards him.
"Kathadha, avangaluku ketura pogudhu," Joe said.
(Don’t shout, she might hear you.)
"Keta kekatum ennaku oru prechanaiyum illa," he said.
(Let her hear. I don’t have a problem.)
Joe came out of his room while I was standing there with the tea tray.
"Anni?" he smiled at me awkwardly.
(Sister-in-law?)
"Do as he says, Joe. Arrange a caretaker," I said.
"Anni, ana..."
(Sister-in-law, but...)
"It's ok, Joe. Avaru solra madhiriye senjiru," I said and went inside his room with the tea.
(Just do what he says.)
I kept the tea on the bedside table. He looked at me with disgust.
As I turned to leave, something fell on my feet and I cried in pain.
It was the hot tea I brought for him. He had yanked the tea cup, spilling it on my leg. The cup shattered.
"Amma..." I sat down, holding my leg.
(Mom... / Ouch...)
He didn’t budge but kept observing my reaction.
"Get lost. Stop your drama," he said.
Hearing my screams, Joe rushed in.
"Hey... Ennachu, Stella?" he asked.
(Hey, what happened, Stella?)
"Tea kotiduchu," I said, crying.
(The tea spilled.)
"Ava drama panra da. Don’t believe her."
(She’s acting, da.)
"Hey, stupid. Shut up for a while," Joe said and started helping me.
Mathew didn’t even check on me.
Joe applied ointment to my feet.
"Parthu irunga, Anni. Avan konja psycho thanama behave pannuvan. Edhachumna call pannuga, naan varen," he said.
(Take care, sister-in-law. He behaves like a psycho sometimes. Call me if anything happens, I’ll come.)
"Thanks, Joe," I said.
As he demanded, a male caretaker was arranged. He took good care of Mathew.
Today, I’ve decided to make a huge decision in my life.
