Stella's POV:
Three months later,
"Hey, Stella? Where the heck are you?" Mathew was yelling, standing in the middle of the living room.
"Ennachu? Edhuku kathureenga?" I came out of my room.
(What happened? Why are you shouting?)
He looked at me with rage-filled eyes.
"Vaanga, madam. Enna paneetu irundheega? Of course, saptutu irundhu irupa, vera enna?" he said.
(Come on, madam. What were you doing? Of course, eating as usual. What else?)
"Illa, I was applying for jobs." I said.
(No, I was applying for jobs.)
Epo paaru sapadu pathiye pesitu iruparu, idiot.
(All he ever talks about is food. Idiot.)
"Adhuvum veetla ukandhute pannu. Idiot, ipdi veetla ukandhu ukandhu dhan innum gundu ayite pora. Go, get down the lanes and search for jobs. I'm not sure whether you'll find a job but definitely you'll lose weight."
(You do that too sitting at home. Idiot. Sitting around like this, you'll only become fatter. Go out, walk down the streets and search for a job. You might not find one, but at least you'll lose some weight.)
"Why are you screaming? Ipo enna achu?" I asked.
(What happened now?)
"You want to know what happened? Everything happened because of you. My life turned upside down when I married you. My friends are laughing at me for marrying you," he said.
I scrunched my face in disgust.
"What? Why are your friends laughing at you?"
"For marrying a fat, ugly woman, none other than Stella Joshua," he said as he took a seat on the couch.
"Mathew, stop hurting me with your words. What if they make fun of you? You should be strong about our relationship. Why are you reacting to their silly comments?" I asked.
"Strong about our relationship? I don't give a damn about this relationship. You are just a paying guest in this house to me. You are just a fat woman and I'm disappointed because I cannot flaunt my wife in front of my friends. All my friends have beautiful wives. And look at me, I got you. Most probably this is the punishment for committing a huge sin in my past life," he replied, running his fingers through his hair.
I started shedding tears.
"Don't say the same things that everyone says. I said I'll lose weight, just give me some time," I said, trying to control my tears.
"Kizhicha, 3 months laye oru managatti difference um illa. Innum 3 months unnaku kuduthu, last la naan dhan emandhu nikkanum. Mudiyadhu, po d." he said.
(Even after 3 months, there's not a bit of change. If I give you another 3 months, I'll end up being the fool. I can't do this anymore. Get lost.)
"But I like you so much. Ennaku ungala romba pudikum. Don't do this to me." I said, keeping my hand on his chest.
(I really like you. Please don't do this to me.)
He yanked my hand away and started laughing.
"Have you ever seen your face in the mirror, you ugly fat woman?"
