Stella POV:
As soon as Mathew saw me, he looked at Catherine akka and said he’d come after some time.
“Naan apram varen,” he said and left.
(“I’ll come later”)
Catherine grabbed my hand and dragged me inside the house. We reached my room. She quickly closed the door and turned toward me.
I looked at her in confusion.
“Stella, idha yaaru kitayum solladha. Naan avanga kita pesitu irundhadhu,” she said.
(“Stella, don’t tell this to anyone… That, I was talking to him,”)
“Why, akka? Avanga enga veetu tenant dhaane? Pesuna enna?” I asked.
(“Why, sister? He’s just our tenant, right? What’s wrong if you spoke to him?”)
“Unnaku dhaan tenant. Ennaku apdi illa,” she said.
(“He may be a tenant to you. But not to me,”)
“Puriyala?” I asked.
(“I don’t understand?”)
“Stella, ennaku avara romba naala theriyum. Avara kalyanam pannika aasai paduren,” she said.
(“Stella, he and I know each other very well. I want to marry him,”)
My eyes widened in shock.
So, Mathew isn't mine?
I stumbled and sat on my bed.
“Naanum avarum oru 6 months-a meet pannitu irukom. He likes me and I like him. Innum official-a propose pannalaam, aana I know that he loves me. Seekirame, avara enna kalyanam pannika solli propose panna poren. Avaru accept pannadhum and correct time varumbodhu veetula solli kalyanam pannikalaam-nu iruken,” she said.
(“He and I have been meeting for 6 months. He likes me and I like him. We haven’t officially proposed yet, but I know he loves me. Soon, I'll be proposing him for marriage. Once he accepts and when the time is right, we’ll tell our families and get married,”)
What? Then he's not single?
“Avaru feelings enna?” I asked.
(“What are his feelings?”)
“Avaruku enna? Parthale theriyala, he's also into me dhaan-nu nenaikiren. Apdi dhaan behave panraru. Innum official-a solla matengiraru, maybe he's shy,” she said.
(“What about him? From the way he acts, I think he’s into me too. He hasn’t said it officially, maybe he’s shy,”)
Why did you do this to me, God? I prayed so much for him to be my husband. Why did you do this to me?
I came out of my thoughts when Catherine akka shook my shoulders.
“Hey, Stella. Ennachu?” she asked.
(“Hey Stella, what happened?”)
“Onnum illa, akka. Avarum neengalum parka semma cute-a irupeenga. You both have great chemistry. Get married soon,” I said, plastering a fake smile on my face.
(“Nothing, sister. You and he look really cute together.”)
My heart was breaking into pieces as I said those words.
“Thanks, da,” she smiled genuinely.
(“Thanks, dear,”)
“Akka, my head is aching. Can I sleep for some time? Please,” I asked.
