Stella’s POV:

I never expected him to kiss my forehead. I pushed him and rushed to my room.

I closed the door and sat on the bed, stunned.

I have no feelings for him now. Why is he suddenly giving me hope?

I want to divorce him. I’m not meant for him.

My eyes landed on my secret book lying on the bed.

How did this come here? I didn’t take it out...

Oh God. Did Appa read it? He was sleeping in my room yesterday.

I started to panic.

"Irukadhu, padichu irundha enkita vandhu ketu irupaarula."
(It’s okay. If he read it, he would’ve asked me about it.)

After some time, I went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

As I passed by, my eyes glanced toward his room, but it was closed.

I went to the kitchen and began preparing breakfast. Once it was done, I came and sat on the couch in the living room.

Why did dad leave without informing me? Let me call him.

I dialled Dad's number. It was busy.

So, I kept the phone down and waited for him to call back.

As expected, my phone rang, but it wasn’t Appa. It was Amma.

“Amma edhuku call panranga?”
(Why is Mom calling?)

I picked up the call.

"Hello, Amma?"

"Stella, enga iruka ma? Konjam vara mudiyuma?"
(Stella, where are you, dear? Can you come over?) she asked.

She didn’t sound okay.

"Yen ma? Ennachu? Edhachum problem-aa?"
(What happened, Mom? Is there some problem?)

"Ama, ma."
(Yes, dear.)

"Enna?"
(What?)

"Namma Juno hospital la irukanga."
(Juno is in the hospital.)

My eyes widened in shock.

"Why?"

"Theriyala... konjam seekiram KRS Hosp..."
(Don’t know… quickly come to KRS Hosp...)

"Hey, phone-a kudu."
(Hey, give me the phone.) I heard Appa’s voice.

"Stella, nothing to worry. Nee anga ellam poga thevai illa. Mappillai kuda veetla iru, ma."
(Stella, you don’t need to go there. Stay home with your husband.)

"Ana, ennachu pa Juno-ku?"
(But what happened to Juno, Dad?)
Even though I hated him, a soft corner inside me couldn’t stop from asking.

"That dog deserved whatever he's going through. Yaaro oruthanga iniku kalaila avana veedu pugundhu adichu irukanga. Yaarunu therila. Adicha adila mugam veengi poi iruku. Avan dha real estate business la irukane, yarayachum emathi irupan adhan veedu pugundhu adichitu irukanga."

(Someone broke into his house this morning and beat him up. Don’t know who. His face is swollen. He’s in real estate, probably cheated someone, so they thrashed him.)

"Ohh... Is he okay now?"

"Avan epdi pona nammaku enna, ma? Unna kasta paduthinadhu-ku idhellam avanukku deserve dhaan."
(Why should we care what happens to him? After everything he did to you, he deserves this.)

"Nee poi velaiya paaru, ma. Don’t think about all these."
(Go focus on your work, dear. Don’t waste your thoughts on him.)

"Seri, pa. But why did you leave without telling me this morning?"
