As everybody was training before the match against Southampton, they found out Meric was injured. As they supported Meric through his injury, everybody was training hard, none more so than their captain, Uno.
Lance and Angelo were making a double hissatsu move while Maury, Matt, Lorenzo, Denise, Jada, Avva, Jea, Kate, and Zoey were training hard. As Uno noticed everybody was busy, he snuck off to the locker room under the guise of finding the new strategy he made.
He slipped into the locker room and hid inside his office, then began breaking down into tears, all because he knew deep down that no matter how hard he tried or how friendly he was, he wouldn't be acknowledged by anybody. Hell, his own parents neglected him.
Uno sat on the bench in his office, his head buried in his hands as the tears flowed freely. He whispered to himself, the weight of his emotions finally spilling over.
"Why can't I ever be enough?" he murmured, his voice choked with sobs. "No matter how hard I try, no one ever sees me. They just see the captain, not Uno."
He glanced at the picture of his team on the wall, the smiles and camaraderie mocking his loneliness. "Even Meric," he continued, "Everyone's so worried about him, and I understand that, but... who worries about me? Who sees my pain?"
He punched the bench in frustration, the sting in his knuckles a sharp reminder of his hidden despair. "I give everything for this team, I push myself to the limit every day, but it’s never enough. My own parents... they never cared. Why would anyone else?"
Just then, a dark thought crept into his mind. Uno looked around the small office, his eyes landing on a small drawer. His hands trembling, he opened it and pulled out a bottle of painkillers. He stared at it, the weight of his despair crushing him.
"I can't do this anymore," he whispered, his voice breaking. "Maybe... maybe they'll notice me when I'm gone."
He unscrewed the cap, his tears blurring his vision. As he poured the pills into his hand, the door creaked open, and Denise stepped in, her brow furrowed with concern. She had noticed Uno's absence and had come looking for him.
"Uno?" she called softly.
Startled, Uno quickly hid the pills, but it was too late. Denise had seen everything. "Denise, what are you doing here?" he asked, trying to compose himself.
Denise approached him slowly, her eyes wide with shock and fear. "Uno, what are you doing? What were you thinking?"
Uno's facade crumbled completely. "I... I can't take it anymore, Denise," he sobbed. "I'm so tired of feeling like this. Like I'm invisible. Like no one cares."
Denise knelt beside him, tears in her own eyes. "Uno, you don't have to do this. You don't have to go through this alone. We care about you. I care about you."
He shook his head, the bottle slipping from his grasp and clattering to the floor. "No one really cares, Denise. Not the team, not my parents. I thought being a good captain, being friendly, would make a difference, but it hasn't."
Denise grabbed his hands, her grip firm yet gentle. "Uno, you make a bigger difference than you realize. You've been our leader, our rock. Without you, we wouldn’t be the team we are today. And your parents... I'm sorry they didn't give you the support you needed, but you have us. You have me."
Tears welled up in Uno's eyes again, but this time, they were a mix of sadness and relief. "Thank you, Denise. It means a lot to hear that. I just... I need to know I'm not alone."
Denise wrapped him in a comforting hug. "You're not alone, Uno. We're all here for you, and we always will be. You’re more than just our captain; you’re our friend, our family."
Uno clung to her, feeling the warmth of her words begin to heal the ache in his heart. "I’ll try to remember that. Thank you, Denise."
She smiled softly as she pulled back, looking him in the eyes. "Anytime, Uno. And if you ever need to talk, about anything, I’m here. We all are. Now, how about we go back to training? Together."
Uno nodded, wiping away the last of his tears. "Yeah, together."
As they walked back to the training field together, Uno felt lighter than he had in a long time. He glanced at Denise, who smiled reassuringly at him. He knew that things wouldn't change overnight, but with her by his side, he felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
In the months that followed, Uno and Denise's relationship deepened. They became each other's confidants, their bond unbreakable. And while Uno still had his moments of doubt and insecurity, he always knew he could count on Denise to lift him up.
Their friendship became the foundation upon which the team built their success, and as they faced each match together, Uno realized that he was never truly alone. With Denise and the rest of the team by his side, he felt acknowledged, supported, and, most importantly, loved.
