The weekend was here. And unlike what anybody would picture a weekend, Jiae's weekend was filled with piling up clothes and packing boxes.
"That's the last of the boxes," the delivery men, along with Jisung, Mina's younger brother, plopped the last of the unnecessarily heavy boxes in Jiae's new dorm room. She gave him a hug as if that was payment for such abusive unpaid labour (her stuff wasn't very less in number nor weight). But Jisung smiled and just gave her a hug back. She was basically his second sister after all.
"Maybe let me know a bit earlier next time. I'll call over more people," he said nervously, making Jiae laugh.
"It's late, so you should go now."
He nodded and jogged off to his dorm room, which was the floor under this one. It was already 8 p.m., so she didn't wanna hold him out any longer.
Jiae sighed, looking around her room and then at the bed across from hers on the other side. It wasn't that big of a space, so she prayed to the heavens for her roommate to be a woman. That side of the room was neatly organized and smelled of sweet felony and citrus. It gave her the impression this was indeed a woman's bed. But then again, there was a stash of gaming supplies in a corner, as well as a pack of cigarettes resting on the table.
You can't tell much with men and women nowadays anyway.
She sighed and started putting her boxes on one side to gradually unpack them and decided to at least do her bed.
Jiae heard another room in her dorm unlock, and out of curiosity, she walked out of her room to check who her dormmate was.
"Hey—Jaem?"
He turned around abruptly with his glass of water, confusion etched on his face.
"What are you..." he trailed off as his eyes fell on the room she was peeking out from.
"Wait... is that your new dorm room—?"
Jaemin had completely forgotten to ask her about the details of her shifting. A part of him was glad she was near him so he'd be able to look out for her, but what bothered him was his not-so-civil friends around his precious cheesecake.
Jiae nodded and slipped out of her room.
"Gonna take some time getting used to all the security measures here. I was doing better off with good old keys than cards and slides and stuff," she said, and Jaemin smiled, trying to hide his inner urge to rage at the universe when it dawned on him Jiae was going to room with none other than the one and only Lee Haechan.
They would either burn the dorm down or the dorm would burn them down for being too loud. Or maybe, just maybe, he worried about him and Jiae being in the same room because he knew of his friend's whereabouts.
"Oh god, you're actually finally here!"
The girl with long brown hair swung in and twirled her black-haired best friend along with her. Jaemin continued smiling at the pair, wondering what he did in his life or previous one to have to be put through this worry.
"I can't believe it, oh my god?!?" Mina kept squealing as Mark, who was Mina's roommate, joined them.
As she was talking with the two of them, Jaemin remained weirdly silent, his eyes stuck on the very dark hickey chilling on Jiae's neck that she forgot to cover up after showering post-shift.
The main door unlocked as a certain brown-haired boy walked up to his room and slid his card on his door before typing his password.
"What's all the—" he spoke as he typed it down.
Jiae and said person looked at each other at the same time and had equally confused expressions.
"What are you doing here—"
