4:06 am, about half an hour ago, Hanyak General Hospital
"Minhyung? What happened?" Daeri asked with knitted brows as her eyes trailed on a distressed Mark desperately trying to contact the others. It was as if her words hadn't even reached him as he continued to pace back and forth around the small space. Every movement making a soft creak sound of the wooden floor.
"God. God," he mumbled, paired with a few other incomprehensible words as his fingers ran through the locks of his hair. It had only been four or five minutes since he last saw Jiae but he couldn't help but imagine the possibilities of what already might've happened.
To his relief, for the first time in the past half an hour the ringing on his phone was picked up on the other end by an equally panicked Renjun.
"Ren-"
"119 initiated,"
Mark froze in his spot. "What?" He questioned in disbelief.
"Yes. I haven't been able to contact Haechan for the past two hours. The others haven't been able to either. They're all in Seoul with me now and we're doing our best to locate Hyuck. And oh yes- Mina is with us too,"
Mark's frown deepened at Renjun's words, "If you can't contact Hyuck....how do you know 119 started?"
"We received a signal. And just now word came in — he blew up Yoonoh's private villa. Yoomin and Professor Hong was mildly injured. Yoonoh escaped. Jeno has been trying to check the local street footages but turns out Haechan didn't do that himself so we still have no clue where he is. Mina says she has no idea either,"
Mark processed the information and swallowed the growing lump on his throat. This could mean a lot of things. It ranged from Haechan executing a detailed plan to him actually being killed midst all this. The blond shook his head to prevent his mind from wandering into the worst case scenarios.
"We have a little issue at hand here. Jiae has been held hostage," Mark monotoned grimly and the other end remained silent for a few seconds.
"......you're fucking kidding me," Renjun muttered, clearly in a state of incredulity.
119 meant something very simple — blow it up. They were being ordered to blow this building up too.
There were aggressive clattering of the keyboard on the other end, most likely from Jeno as everyone began to overthink. With Haechan not present, there wasn't anyone else forming a plan. He sent his signal but was he aware of what was happening on this end? And if he knew, why on earth would he order doing something like this with Jiae inside?
"Mark....what do you suggest we do?" Jeno questioned from the background. Mark's mind went blank, eyes opening wide in realisation that he had to make the decision now. And frankly, he had no idea what they could do in that situation. This all seemed like a sick twisted game.
The boy tried his best to not let the phone fall out of his hands and made attempts to think out a solution. Nothing came. He felt helpless on a whole different level and his heart was pounding out of his cage knowing that with every passing second, everything and everyone was being put at increasing danger.
He opened his mouth to speak, nothing but air came out.
"....Mark? Are you there?"
"I...we'll carry out the mission as we were asked," he firmly replied.
He trusted Haechan's judgement. Hopefully, he wouldn't be making a mistake with that. But his last bits of hope were shattered when their door burst open.
Almost out of reflex, he pocketed his phone and immediately pulled out his revolver. The newly welcomed man raised both his hands up as if to show he wasn't there to harm. But Mark most definitely wasn't trusting that.
