"Am I... missing something? Aren't we supposed to be the ones beefing?"

Haechan whispered to Jiae as they walked behind Mark and Mina, who were walking side by side but at an awkward distance apart.

"The engagement thing. Pretty sure Mark told you," she replied, eyeing the two with her arms still crossed over her chest.

To make Mina a bit happier, Jiae agreed to come out of her hibernation. But it didn't seem to be working.

"Oh right, his parents are pretty old, and he's the only son, so I guess that's why," he explained casually, as if it were nothing, making Jiae shoot him a glare. Haechan immediately made a gesture of begging for forgiveness, but it was more mockery than anything genuine. The silence continued as they walked through the amusement park. Both of them were just concerned about their respective best friends and wanted to help. Finally, they decided to work together to come up with a plan if normal means didn't work for the couple.

"You two learned how to talk to each other?! Oh my, that's new!" Renjun exaggerated as he appeared beside Haechan, and so did their three other dorm mates. Jiae did her best to completely ignore Yangyang at all costs.

"We're just wondering how to get these two to talk it out," Jiae explained.

"They aren't even looking at each other, though," Renjun pointed out.

"Well done, Sherlock. We had no idea," Haechan rolled his eyes at Jeno, desperate to get out of this awkward situation.

"And that's why we'll make them," Jiae said, walking ahead.

"Just play along, or else I'll hang you up on the ceiling today," she told Haechan as they approached the ferris wheel. He gave her an annoyed look because they had already agreed on this earlier.

"At least your threat was better than 'fall in a ditch'."

Ignoring him, Jiae continued with her little plan.

"Mina! I really need to get back home because the professor just called about an assignment."

Mina looked over at her with a tinge of concern. "Okay, then let's all go ba—"

"No, no! You two have fun!" Jaemin interjected in a panic, making Jiae mentally facepalm.

Mark and Mina just blinked at them in confusion. Jiae then knew she'd have to improvise, so she completely changed the narrative.

"I wanna ride the ferris wheel. Haechan and I will leave after that because we have a test tomorrow. Let's go."

She had had enough, so she frustratedly dragged Mark and Mina to the wheel counter.

"These two are getting in one cabin."

The cabins were four-seaters.

"No!" They both exclaimed. The person at the counter, who seemed to be a young girl working part-time, looked at the three of them in a frenzy. Haechan, as planned, slid to the front counter to talk to the girl while Jiae dragged the couple to the ferris wheel.

"Just let us handle this and give us two cabins. We kind of need these two to be alone. Lover issues," he winked playfully, slid some extra cash to the girl, then turned around to signal Jiae.

She forced the two protesting pair and locked them in as the boarding officer stared at her with serious concern and slight horror. Haechan stood there holding the officer back with one hand as if this were the most normal thing ever.

One thing Haechan and Jiae were both good at was pulling off absolutely insane things with a straight face—like this one. After he was sure she was done locking them in for the next 30 minutes of awkwardness, he made his way to their cabin.
