The dim yellow light flowed from the chandelier at the top of the venue, lighting up the enormous hall where people dressed elegantly in neat formal wear present. Low chatter mingled with the soft music playing in the background, complete with the occasional cling of glasses. The aroma of pastries and sophisticated delicacies diffused in the air. She'd have to say, it was highly extravagant, much more than she expected it to be.

Jiae herself, was dress in an extra fluffy cookie coloured gown that accentuated her figure yet effectively hid her abnormally small baby bump. A small silver belt went around the fluffy materials around her waist, matching with the band crown detail across her head.

To Jiae, this was a massive overkill. The dress was too long. Too fluffy. The jewelry was a little too much and she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable; she wasn't used to this. She always knew her parents knew people- but had no idea their social network went this far. But then again, who'd pass on an opportunity to get dressed up all fancy?

Jiae's heels clicked against the white marble tiles as she reached the red carpet that cascaded down the stairs. Mina clung to one arm of hers after they had just finished greeting the umpteenth guest.

"God this is getting repetitive," Jiae exasperated while Mina giggled at her best friend, "Not gonna lie, this is pretty grand....for a birthday," she commented. They'd done her birthdays before too but this was just unnecessarily huge. Jiae was glad she wasn't the only one who thought so.

Once they were down the stairs she dragged Mina to a more desolate area under the stairs. She massaged her ankles groaning in frustration, "I swear these heels are killing me,"

"Jiae, it's only been two hours," Mina reminded her, only to receive a glare from the raven head, "Just so helpful of yo-"

"Jiae- there you are!" Jaemin popped up out of the blue from behind her, along with Renjun, Jisung and Chenle. The two Chinese boys wished her, giving her a side hug while Jaemin tugged her arm urgently, sending her an apologetic look, "There's...more guests,"

Jiae looked up at him for five solid seconds before sighing, following after him while Mina got caught up in talking with the others.

As Jiae walked side by side with Jaemin, wearing a constant smile on her face, thanking anyone wishing her happy birthday, exchanging greetings with them. Soon, her eyes landed on her parents smiling and talking with a few people that she knew that she needed to go greet next.

The girl politely walked up to them, bowing slightly as she formed small talk with them. After a short chit-chat, as they passed by, Jiae shared a brief smile and glimpse with her parents.

"Are you okay?" Her mother asked and Jiae nodded without allowing her smile falter. It was well....half the truth. A part of her was every now and then searching the room, looking through the sea of people to spot a certain mop of brown hair. She secretly was desperately hoping to catch a look of him.
