"She's inside. I'm not sure but she might be asleep,"

Haechan simply nodded at the nurse, impatiently, as he twisted the knob to push open the dull grey coloured room door. His breath hitched at the sight of the small hump under the covers, softly heaving up and down.

He took a few quiet steps towards her, taking in her serene, resting face. But somehow she still looked distressed. It didn't take him long to figure out that she wasn't actually asleep with how her breaths were shallow and fast. The nurse had followed in after him, with a report file in her hands.

"Ma'am? Miss Kim? You have a visitor. Your parents and-"

"No," she dryly monotoned, not even bothering to open her eyes. Haechan's eyes keenly trailed on her features. Her usually vibrant expression was replaced with a sullen, emotionless look. Her bright smile now ended in a thin line and the deeply passionate glowing eyes now seemed dead even with them closed. In his eyes, she was still beautiful just resting in silence- but something about her energy felt....unsettling.

The nurse was about to open her mouth to speak again but Haechan gestured her to stop and nodded, pointing at himself. She reluctantly glanced between Jiae and Haechan with skepticism before finally stepping back.

Jiae felt the bed dip on one side and her face immediately contorted into an annoyed frown, "I said-!"

"Angel?"

Pause.

Her eyes shot open. The raven head's blank expression was instantly flipped like a switch. Her breaths got heavier and eyes locked with the brunette's, who warmly looked back at her. Not even a proper few seconds past before she had her arms around his neck. Of course, he didn't think twice to wrap his arms around her frail body, squeezing her lightly. The boy nuzzled into the side of her head whilst she dug her head into his chest.

The tears she'd been holding back burst out sprinkling down her cheeks and onto his dark grey shirt. He was here. With her. That's all she cared about. The heavy weight of her own body felt less burdening and suddenly it wasn't all that cold anymore. That's when she knew, she could deal with anything, anything, with him there.

She felt his lips come into contact with her temple. In response, Jiae closed her eyes, tightening her arms around his neck, inhaling the comforting scent of his presence. He wasn't exactly all that clean, neither was she, but the strong, ever present Haechan scent was still lingering. Sweet citric felony. It mixed with the mild remnants of nicotine.

"You smoked, motherfucker,"  — was the first thing she told him.

She's quiet mutter earned a surprised chuckle from him. He gently pulled her head away from his chest, meeting her eyes. Only then did she realise his eyes were as red as hers. One of his hands raised up to glide his thumb over her cheeks to swipe over a few drops of tears.

"I should've stayed back," he whispered but she shook her head, meeting his pair of chocolate coloured orbs. They were way past apologising for this. Things like this happened a bit too often for them to say sorrys over them every time. She hauled herself closer to him, briefly connecting their lips. They were this glad they made out yet another time.
