"Life is still going on, in any case, it flows"

- NCT dream

"Do you feel any major discomfort?" The nurse enquired for the umpteenth time as she inclined the bed up as Jiae wanted her to. Truth be told, it wasn't exactly comfortable. But neither was it anything atypical. Perhaps the fact that Jiae personally knew half of the staff here was the reason behind her favoured treatment.

She nodded feebly and gave the nurse a fatigued smile. The nurse smiled back at her as she busied herself with checking other necessary vitals. Jiae's eyes then took her time to look around, trying to blink away the exhaustion. Her eyes landed on the boy dozing off on the couch, his black hoodie up to cover almost half of his face — the same hoodie he has nine of for no plausible reason.

The nurse glanced between the two and lightly tapped on Jiae's shoulder, "Ill go bring her over," she smiled at her and Jiae mirrored her expression with a nod.

Jiae's eyes travelled back to the brunette. The boy almost fell off the chair, toppling over a metal tumbler when he tried to keep his balance. His eyebrows creased at the sudden falter of his body from his near-sleep state as he tried to blink away his sleep. Jiae couldn't help but find it amusing how clumsy he was.

"Just lay down and sleep properly," she mumbled out with a chuckle. His head shot up at her direction and his swollen features from being asleep froze, mouth opening to try and find the right words but boy was still to hazed from his broken sleep to say anything. Ending up with a childlike cluelessness.

"You're awake? When?" He croaked out, shaking off his hood. He messed his hair as he stood up , sauntering up to the seat beside Jiae.

"Just now, actually," she softly smiled. Haechan slipped his fingers between hers, squeezing them a little, "You almost broke my hand earlier," he spoke in a hoarse, deepened voice from his mini nap.

Jiae glowered at him and he immediately pecked her hand muttering out a little, "Just kidding," even though it wasn't really a lie. The brunette let his lips tug upwards and the corner of his eyes crinkled. The girl had tired eyes, a slightly more puffy face than usual, her hair tied into a messy bun on top of her head with a few strands somehow still framing her face. He couldn't hold back grin of admiration for the girl, chuckling to himself at the giddy feeling that bubbled within him.

"Your mother was literally having an anxious breakdown pacing around here I swear. I had to force her to go out and take a breather-"

The door burst open to reveal two elderly women basically dashing up to Jiae. Haechan instantly slipped away from her fingers, feeling awkward about being affectionate around their parents. Following the women were the two fathers.

"Donghyuck, there's people you need to greet outside," his father informed him and the boy nodded, instantly moving towards the door after sending Jiae a glance. The girl nodded at him and gestured at the two mothers fussing around her, reassuring him that she was fine.

"Are you-"

"Yes I am alright," Jiae replied with a soft laugh before Jiyoung could ask again. Her mother, still took it upon herself to check her vitals even though the nurse had just done that. On the other hand, Eunjin began arranging pillows around her — the two mothers buzzing like bees surrounding her. She laughed at their over the top concern but still, she did truly feel grateful. But a second later, she was no longer the center of attention.

It was the tiny bundle of joy wrapped gently in a white cloth, held in the nurse's arms. Almost as if timed perfectly, the door opened again to reveal their friends- just like the family, instantly , everyone swarmed towards the new born baby after exchanging greetings with Jiae. She didn't mind that though, it was natural to be more excited to see the baby.
