Angel found Lyle sitting on the bed , looking sad and hugging the male dog Rufus who looked halfway dead he was so old. " What's wrong, babe ? ," he asked as he flopped down next to him.
Lyle looked at him and sighed. " I feel guilty. "
Angel wrinkled his forehead in confusion. What did he mean? " Guilty about what, my sexy teacher man ? "
Lyle moved from the dog who was now snoring and drooling on the thick colorful blanket to lean against his fiance, closing his eyes. He wanted to unburden himself but he was hesitant. When people knew exactly what he was they backed away. Thought he was weird. He did not think Angel would feel that way but what if he was wrong? His eyes reopened and he looked at his engagement ring. It was so beautiful. Like Angel. He treasured both of them. He didn't want to lose either one. " About what happened yesterday. "
Angel laughed harshly. " Why the hell would you feel guilty about that? The one should feel guilty is that Pamela woman who is under arrest and hopefully will be in prison for life. And her cousin and his husband who the cops are questioning from what I got from the news. You had nothing to do with it. Except for being in a school that could have blown up if it was not for Theodore Rochester. When I think of how close I came to possibly losing you yesterday..... Damn it. "
Lyle whispered softly," Because I dreamed it. "
Angel lifted up his eyebrow questioningly. And Lyle sighed and explained it all. The dreams he had had all his life. The reaction people usually had to him. And why he hadn't told anyone about the dream.
Angel was quiet for a long time. Too long that Lyle was getting scared. He was afraid that the man was getting ready to break off the engagement, take the ring back, leave the house, leave him. He could see himself being alone yet again. Just boring weird Lyle Peters.
Finally Angel spoke. " Did you have any proof beyond the dream? "
" No. "
" If you had told someone, anyone, do you think they would have believed you? "
" No. They would have responded like they usually do. Laughed. Thought I was crazy. "
Angel pulled him closer to his body. " Then don't feel guilty. Because you are not. Trust me on that. "
" So you don't think I am weird? "
Angel laughed as he tickled Lyle in his special spot he had found one night until the man began to giggle. " You're no weirder than me. Although I'm pretty weird as you well know, my darling! "
Lyle giggled," I love you. "
" I love you more. And yesterday made me realize something. I would have been completely lost if anything had happened to you yesterday. Or any day really. I want to get married on New Year's Eve. In fact I have the perfect place. "
Lyle smiled softly. " Where's that? Although I don't need perfect to marry you. "
" Richard and Nigel's in the private party room. Just us and a few family and friends. Real small. Real intimate. I actually texted Nigel about it and he agreed. What do you say? "
Lyle's eyes twinkled at him. " I think I will be the one walking down the aisle in the white suit. "
Angel climbed atop his fiance and whispered," And I'll be the one in the red suit with the black silk shirt waiting for you. The one who has eyes only for you. Oh , and don't worry. Hank won't be anywhere near the restaurant that day. "
Lyle was too busy sucking on Angel's neck to give a thought to Hank Harmon.
