Later that day Faith had been nagged by her brother into going to the UUC church and help serve Christmas lunch to the homeless along with him , Spencer and the kids as well as her mother and that shifty rich man of hers who had popped up as another branch on Nigel's barren family tree. She was astonished to see Richard and his family there as well serving. Although Nigel was more occupied with entertaining both Tanisha and Miracle in her stroller at a back table.
Ok , she thought as she handed a full plate of turkey, ham , green beans, yams and cranberry sauce to a sweet faced old man with very few teeth, it was not so bad. It beat staying home in her empty apartment wondering how her life had turned so shitty so fast.
And it gave her an opportunity to see the pretty pastor who was currently laughing with a table of happily eating people. She wore a hideous red and green Christmas sweater with a lopeyed reindeer on the front and a baggy blue denim skirt. The same terrible thing her partner tended to wear during the holidays yet on Joy it didn't look that bad. In fact it was actually kinda cute.
As their eyes met when Joy's head lifted and turned in her direction Faith idly wondered if the woman had gotten her Harts and Flowers message. Then she wondered why exactly she cared if she had.
