Alfred was astonished as Gerald kissed him. He was also very turned on. It had been so long since anyone had kissed him. And really that someone had been Scott. Before Scott nobody else had ever expressed any interest in him beyond laughs or bullying or pity. Scott's kisses were very good, yes , but fairly selfish. Scott had been a selfish lover. He was more concerned with his own pleasure. Hell. He still was more into his own interests really; even to this day he was still trying to " woo " him back into his arms and life with gifts of flowers, chocolate, poetry books and invites to dinner. All of which Alfred rejected.

Gerald's kiss was so much better to him. So warm. So tender. So sweet. His lips were so plump and moist and delicious tasting under his own mouth. He nearly whimpered in pain as the man pulled back with regret in his eyes. Regret ? Why regret? Then his heart panged as he thought that of course he felt regret about kissing the likes of him. Who besides Scott actually wanted him ? Nobody. He did not see himself married one day like Spencer with DuBuis. Only in his dreams. And those were strangely enough beginning to feature the big gentle headmaster more and more these days.

" I'm sorry," Alfred," Gerald said as he sat back from him. Suddenly Alfred felt colder. " That was quite inappropriate of me. Forgive me. It will not happen again. "

Alfred's lips twisted in a bitter smile as he looked everywhere but at the man. " So. Not straight then ? "

Gerald was quiet for a long while. Then he said haltingly," No. I am..... I am ...... not straight. I never have been. And, yes , my late wife was aware of this. It was part and parcel of our arrangement. I am gay. " He paused. " I hope this won't make its way around the school as it is. I appreciate my privacy. As it is."

Alfred kept smiling gently. " Your secret is safe with me. "

After all , why would he want to tell anyone that he had been kissed and rejected by a man that he just might be falling for?
