The big burly White police sergeant in the neatly pressed dark blue uniform and military buzzed hair style narrowed his bleary brown eyes at Richard in his expensive suit and shoes. He sneered ," She may be a detective where you all come from but here in Montgomery County she's just an aggressive and abrasive suspect who attempted to attack one of my officers forcing him to restrain and arrest her. She's currently in a holding cell. If you want to bail her out I'm sure you can do that, lawyer. Where are you from anyway? I ain't never seen you around here before. "
Richard lifted his head proudly and narrowed his eyes at the man. " I'm a senior partner at a law firm in Virginia. I am well acquainted with Detective Lane and that doesn't sound anything like her. I would like to see my client immediately. And I would like to know the name of the arresting officer. I also would like to see the dashcam footage from his police vehicle. Please. " He smiled coolly at the man. It was the smile that usually terrified the worst of IRS agents. " Also I am confident bail will not be necessary. My client will be walking away free and clear with an official apology from this officer. "
The cop laughed. " You are a bougie one, aren't you? As my son says. You can see your client but as I said she's not going anywhere without bail being posted , Perry Mason. The officer is Ted Young. He's a recent hire. From Iowa. And there's no dash cam available. Apparently he had a glitch with it. " He smiled rudely at him. " Virginia? You get lost or something? Can you even practice in Maryland? "
Richard sighed. " Of course I can practice here. I'm licensed to practice in Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC. I actually live in Maryland as well. I want to see my client. And were her rights read to her? "
