" This is good food Nigel serves at this restaurant of his, " Joy said quietly as she cut into her medium rare sirloin steak and took a deeply appreciative bite. The happy expression on the woman's pretty round brown face as she ate put a smile on Faith's own face while she watched her eat. It was a true pleasure to watch a woman enjoying her food with such flourish. Not like Pamela with her infernal diets. Faith hated diets. Always had. She liked a woman with a good decent appetite. And nice curves on her body. The pastor was number one on both of those elements.

" Yeah ," Faith murmured as she practically inhaled the shepherd's pie with lamb that was steadily becoming her favorite dish at the restaurant now," Glory and the other cooks be putting their foot in it in that kitchen. Nigel and Richard got a good thing with this place. If it wasn't for Nigel's lupus I could see him opening another one easy. They won't be on Kitchen Nightmares for sure. "

Joy laughed. " I would think not. It seems to be a nicely run establishment. The host in the wheelchair is a bit on the grump side but it is still a nice restaurant. " She took a sip from her glass of imported water. " Nigel has lupus? That has to be very complicated for him especially with his family and the restaurant. My grandma had lupus. He has to be a strong man. "

Faith reached for her own water and took a sip. Sometimes she missed a nice wine but she was not going to backslide on this battle with alcohol. She was not going to disappoint the people backing her on this fight especially Andrew and DuBuis. And Joy Jones.

" Yeah. I can't imagine having an illness like that. It's bad enough with being an alcoholic but... I don't think I could handle being sick. Like Nigel. Or my brother. "

Joy was quiet after that as they continued to eat their main course in silence. The only sound heard was other customers in the filled restaurant chatting happily and the tinkling of Andrew on the upright piano in the corner with Matilda singing what she had announced to them all was an Irish folk song from the old country. Then she asked," How is your brother doing? He's back home I hear? I plan to see him tomorrow. I still want him to be a lay pastor at the church. He's an inspiration on so many levels and knows the bible very well. "

Faith grumbled," Better than our sister and her husband. Way better. Yeah. He's home. I haven't seen him yet. Was kinda busy today. "

Joy looked up from her food over at Faith with concern. " Do your family know about what happened today? That awful arrest. That's terrible , by the way. I know you are a police woman but some cops are bullies by nature. I try not to judge but I still remember when I was a child and my family was out driving in my father's new Cadillac car. The police stopped us all the time. For no reason. My father never drove fast and he obeyed all traffic laws. But they stopped us and were so rude. My father didn't appreciate it. It hurt his pride. Especially in front of his wife and children. "

Faith ignored her question about her family. " So what do your parents do for a living? Are they in your line of work? "

Joy smiled softly. " You mean do they bother God for a living? No. My father is an electrician. My mother is a hairdresser. Well she doesn't work out of a salon. She takes a few select clients in her kitchen. She specializes in braiding. She does good work. I'm not as talented with hair like her. They live in Landover. My sister runs a day care center. If Spencer and DuBuis are in need of a center for Miracle I can recommend it highly. They accept babies at twelve months. They do plan to adopt her ? "

She paused for a second. " My brother is a minister though. "

Faith smiled wryly. " I think Spencer mentioned having Richard's firm working on adoption as we speak. They're in love with that child. Even DuBuis although he tries to hide it. So I guess you have a pretty good relationship with your brother. Being ministers and all. "

Joy sighed. " My brother and I don't see eye to eye on how we each regard ministry. He thinks I'm too , in his words, timid about the word. "
