( Texts ) DuBuis : Mama , I need help. We need help.

Jenessa : What's wrong, son ? What happened now? Are you all ok ?

DuBuis : We're fine. We need help with a baby. Spencer found a baby. On our porch. An abandoned baby in a blanket. With a note saying take care of her. It's a girl, yes. Who would abandon a baby like this? Outside of Nigel's mother anyway.

Jenessa : Oh dear God in heaven. That poor child. What are you going to do now?

DuBuis : We're at St. Paul's. They're examining her. She seems healthy though from what I saw. But what do I know about babies. I'm emergency medicine trained not pediatrics. CPS has been called. It's the same social worker that gave the Jenkins kids to Richard and Nigel lol. Rosie Flynn. Spencer wants us to keep her. How can we keep her? He's determined to keep her. He wants to call her Miracle because that was in the note.

Jenessa : Why can't you keep her ? You have an extra bedroom. And the crib can stay in your bedroom downstairs until she's old enough to climb steps. So Spencer can take care of her. I can buy you clothes and diapers and whatever you need for her. Right now I can. What does that social worker say?

DuBuis : She's actually not very involved to me. She says she's leaving the field soon. She actually said we can be temporary foster parents if we want to be. With me being a doctor and Spencer a professor. She is coming to examine our house on Monday but she says we can take the baby back home today. Mama , we don't even have a car seat. Spencer wants to transform the living room into our bedroom and the dining room into a nursery. I'm worried. He's getting attached already. What if they find this baby's mother or father and we have to give her up ? He'll be devastated if we lose her. What do we do?

Jenessa : Take her in like you did Luci and Theodore and Sol. It's what our family has always done. This is what Black people do , son. You know that. Take her in and leave the future to the Lord above. As for a car seat leave that to me and your future step daddy. We'll be at the hospital as soon as we finish shopping for her. How old?

DuBuis : Probably about two months.

Jenessa : Bless her precious soul.
