Alfred Giadello was lonely.
He loved his mother and stepfather. He loved his job. He loved the new friends he had made since coming to Maryland. Especially Gerald although he wished their relationship could be different. After all the older man had essentially come out to him and kissed him but he had also backtracked on the kiss. Said it was a mistake. Said it was inappropriate. He would like more with the man but he was not going to beg him for anything. He had more pride than that. If he was going to do that he might as well stay with Scott whose little gifts and texts continued to arrive almost daily to his own amusement. The chocolate he donated to the UUC soup kitchen, the flowers a local nursing home and the texts he just deleted as soon as they came in.
He hated his life though because he was alone and always would be. He wanted to find someone special to share his life with. So the night of the infamous kiss he had came home and made a profile on Harts and Flowers. He didn't put a whole body profile picture though; just one of his smiling face. He had been reluctant to do that out of fear people would say he was catfishing when or if they met him but he didn't want to get rejected straight away based on his deformed looking body. He would explain if he got any hits which he probably wouldn't. And of course he hadn't gotten the slightest interest. Which didn't surprise him. Of course he wouldn't find his Angel on there like Lyle had. Or another Gerald for that matter.
Until that morning when he woke up to notifications of messages from the dating site. He had been surprised and oddly eager as he logged in to see who was interested in the likes of him.
The first was a man that he had heard his stepfather talking about with anger and when he had inquired why Andrew had explained and he had promptly understood the negative emotion.
Winston Arnett. He hadn't even known the man was gay. He was good looking with sensitive eyes but Richard was his step brother and Rebecca his step niece so he just ignored the message.
The second was from Dave HighTower who worked as a sub art teacher at the school and was Gerald's nephew. That was a definite no especially after he read the message: Hello , Al ! Funny seeing you here. Didn't know people like you could fuck. So are you a top or a bottom lol ? That message got him blocked as well.
The third was promising.
Marco Martinez who worked as legal counselor for the White House where ironically his cousin Walker was president. Marco was handsome in a smoothly confident way , looked intelligent and had several interests in common with him. His profile picture was him in a kayak on what looked like rough water which worried him. Would a man into outdoor activities really be interested in him once he knew about his disability?
Also he wasn't Gerald.
Of course Gerald did not want him, he thought as he sent what he hoped was a witty reply to his message.
