" So this fiance of DuBuis' mother claims to be your father? ," Richard asked Nigel whose energetic period seemed to have ended that morning. Nigel, who usually was a big morning person and up before anyone else in the house, decided to stay in bed a little longer that day. He was not really sleepy. He was just really really tired.
Richard sat on the bed next to him , looking at him with concern.
" Yes. That's what he says. He's really abrupt. But he is a businessman so I guess that makes sense. He wants me to take a DNA test on Monday, him and I, so he can make sure. I agreed. " He shifted over under the blanket and sheets to look at his husband. " I want to know. I would love to find my father. His name was not on the birth certificate Mum gave me and she really won't answer questions about him whenever I asked her. I always assumed that she never knew. "
Richard furrowed his brow. " Have you told Matilda about all this? "
" Not yet. He only called last night after you fell asleep and I was up planning some special events for the restaurant. You know that Joe Jacobs plans to turn the Cafe J into some type of nightclub? " He grinned mischievously. " Maybe the competition is getting to King ManHo of the DMV. Anyway I plan on talking to her today. Definitely before the annual Sunday dinner. Is it still at Spencer's? "
Richard smiled. " No. Tonight it's at Dad's. Which is good. It's too nippy to be eating out on a deck even if it's enclosed. I can't believe my brother found a baby. I really can't believe he wants to keep her. If they are really serious about keeping this baby I am going to assist them with all the legal means of adoption. The last thing I want is them losing this child."
Nigel sat up and suddenly he too was looking very concerned. " Spencer texted me so many pictures of the baby. She's adorable. Almost makes me want one but I think we have our hands full really already. I don't want to be that reality family with twenty plus kids. That's ridiculous. But I agree. Please help them, baby. If Spencer loses that baby or they find the mother it'll break his heart. "
Richard sighed. " That's what DuBuis and I are worried about. "
