" This plea deal you want is ridiculous, Norland," Montgomery County Assistant State's  attorney Kenneth Zoss said tersely as he sat across from the well dressed attorney in his office.

Richard sighed and leaned forward slightly in his seat, saying," Why exactly is it ridiculous? This woman is a homicide detective. "

" She is a reckless homicide detective who plays by her own rules too often. I am fully aware of her interference in the kidnapping of your husband last year. She murdered a man in the state of Virginia although she is from Maryland. "

Richard thinned his lips and his eyes grew chilly. " I requested her assistance in that matter. She saved my life and my husband. Virginia police actually took no official action on the shooting of Lonnie Hawkins who had a record long as his arm in the UK. And her own unit in Prince George's County also took no action. I don't see where that even applies to this case....."

Kenneth interrupted briskly," Well ,  we in Montgomery frown on rogue cops like her. I trust that our officer's accounts of events is truthful. His record has been spotless since his hiring. And , I don't do plea deals. Ever. "

Richard shook his head. " Detective Faith Lane is not a rogue police officer. She is intelligent and responsible and hardworking. She is a good cop caught up in a bad situation not of her making. She doesn't deserve to have this affect her entire future. Also how can you say he is truthful when his dash cam was allegedly glitched ? There is no video evidence or witnesses. It is a he said , she said situation. I request that the charges be dropped. "

Kenneth said sharply," You can request what you want. I don't drop charges anymore than I do plea deals.  According to our officer she assaulted him and he defended himself and placed her under arrest. Your client is going to trial for assault. Like it or not. Now please leave my office, sir. I'm a very busy man. Good day. "
