As Andrew and Glory arrived at the school with Alfred's cane which he hated with a passion Gerald and Angel along with the janitoral staff began a prompt school wide search , class by class , room by room , for Alfred's missing walker. Which set off worry and alarm bells within Diamond's head as she heard about the search. Then she texted swiftly Lewis Norland to confess what had happened and where she and Zora had hidden the walker. She also begged him to help her because she didn't want to get into trouble.
Lewis read the distressed text messages in class and looked over at the crush of his dreams with her wide frightened eyes and came to a choice. He asked the teacher to be excused so he could promptly find the headmaster and " confess " to hiding Alfred Giadello's walker in the shed beside the running field outside.
Gerald looked at the young twelve year old boy with his long shaggy dark hair and pensive grey eyes and rounded face standing before him with much surprise on his own face.
" I am very shocked and disappointed in you, young man," Gerald said firmly. " I expected more of you especially being Richard Norland's son. Very disappointed. You are going to apologize to Mr. Giadello right now. And then we are going to my office where I am calling your father about this. His punishment to you is his business. Mine will be a week of suspension and another week of inschool suspension. What were you thinking, Lewis? "
Lewis refused to answer. He just stood there with his head lowered in great shame.
At least Diamond won't get in trouble, he thought to himself. Maybe she would like him better than Richie now.
