The city of San Diego burned beneath an angry sky, flames dancing amidst the chaos of fleeing civilians and rampaging monsters. Dream and George stood at the edge of the inferno, their faces grim as they surveyed the devastation.
"Piyol, do what you can," George said softly, his voice tinged with concern as he gestured towards the spreading fires.
"Eek! Eeekk!"
The kitsune let out a screech, determination flashing in its eyes despite the tears welling up. It darted forward, unleashing bursts of icy energy that momentarily quelled the flames, though they continued to lick at the buildings hungrily.
Dream glanced at George, his expression troubled. "Lowkey, we gotta find a way to stop the mess we made," he murmured, his usual light-hearted demeanor overshadowed by the gravity of the situation.
Well yeah no shit.
George nodded, his mind already racing with plans. "Let's get back to base. We need to regroup."
The imugi, descended from the skies at Dream's call. With practiced ease, they climbed onto its back, the creature's scales cool and reassuring beneath their touch. As they soared above the burning city, the wind whipping around them, Dream couldn't help but feel a surge of adrenaline mixed with fear.
"D'you think Piyol's gonna be alright?" Dream asked, trying to lighten the mood as he glanced back towards the city.
George nodded, though his eyes remained fixed ahead. "Yeah, he'll figure something out." Hopefully
Dream chuckled, the sound almost lost in the rush of wind around them. "You know, sometimes I wish I had a monster like Piyol too. Would make life way more interesting."
George grinned, a rare moment of levity crossing his face. "You'd probably get into even more trouble than you already do."
The banter continued as they flew, each joke and shared moment a brief respite from the grim reality unfolding below them.
Back at their base, located in a secluded part of the forest, their friends awaited their return with a mixture of relief and anxiety. Bad and Sapnap paced nervously, their usual banter replaced by tense silence. Quackity stood at the edge of the clearing, scanning the horizon with furrowed brows.
Their team leader, Philza, approached them with a nod of acknowledgment. "Good to see you both back safely," he said in a steady voice, his eyes flickering briefly with relief before settling back into his usual composed demeanor.
Kassie, Dream's younger sister with a fiery spirit, stormed towards them as they dismounted the imugi. "You idiots!" she snapped, her voice cracking with anger and fear. "Do you have any idea how worried we were?"
Dream winced, shrugging as he met her furious gaze. "Drista, we had no choice basically," he began, but she cut him off with a glare that could melt steel.
"I don't care!" Kassie interrupted, her voice trembling with emotion. "You could've been killed out there! What were you thinking?"
George stepped forward, his tone calm but firm. "We had to assess the situation," he explained, his eyes meeting Kassie's with unwavering honesty. "And we needed to make sure everyone was safe."
"But it only led to this" Dream ended pointing at the window where monsters of different kinds were popping up.
Kassie's anger softened slightly, replaced by concern as she noticed the exhaustion etched into their faces. "You're both hurt," she murmured, her voice thick with emotion. "Come with me."
Inside their makeshift infirmary, Kassie's demeanor shifted from anger to focused determination. She gathered her potions and healing herbs, her hands moving swiftly as she tended to Dream and George's injuries.
