“Are you happy working with me, Zin?”
I don't know what's on Mary's mind when she suddenly asked me that question. It has been a week since I started working with her as a lyric assistant—not just a lyric assistant for her, but more of a music assistant. At sa loob ng isang linggo na ‘yon ay puno ng new experiences and discoveries, at masaya dahil I get to work with other people here also. At the same time, mas lalo akong nado-drown sa gusto ko talaga, which is ang music.
The usual routine we do every lunch break—kumain at mag-usap usap tungkol sa mga bagay bagay dito sa cafeteria.
“Oo naman!” I answered confidently. “Masayang-masaya.”
She gave me a warm smile. “I'm glad you're happy working with me, Zin. I'm very thankful because you accepted my offer. It was easy for me already to work with lots of music because you are by my side.”
I felt lighthearted by what she said. I felt bad because during those times until now, she treats me as her best friend. Wala siyang ibang kasama noon kundi ako lang.
She doesn't like hanging out with our other classmates even though a lot of them want to be friends with her. She's always a favorite.
Aside from that, she's the type of boss who is so kind to her workers. She also acknowledges me and others who are part of making the song… the music successful.
“I'm also very thankful to you, Mary. I chuckled embarrassingly. “Natanggap ako sa ibang kumpanya, kaso I don't feel like continuing it. Right after you messaged me, I know this company is where I belong.”
“Actually, this company is also where I belong din,” she agreed with my last statement. “Alam ko talaga sa sarili ko na I'm intelligent in doing music, in making music, but I still had a lot of doubts about myself. Right after I graduated, I felt lost all of a sudden. I would never be successful to this.”
“I lost my hope,” she continued talking. “But I still love making songs… It wasn't an easy process. Hindi porke't marami akong alam and I had always been complimented by our professors, I still felt like I didn't get any achievement for myself at all. But here in Bloom entertainment, making music in this entertainment, helps me a lot to know more about my strength better.”
“I can make music without restrictions. I can express myself. And I received good comments from people, from our bosses.” She held her chest, feeling proud of herself. “I'm beyond happy and grateful for the opportunity they have given me.”
I bit my lower lip, feeling shy from the sudden confession.
I gave her my sweetest smile. “Thank you, Mary. Thank you dahil hindi mo ako kinalimutan… You contacted me… and helped me bloom in this dream I'm most passionate about.”
