Chapter 39: Downtime

Cyborg and the rest of his team arrived back at Titans Tower, rather shook up after their mission to check on Doctor Fate. After landing Megan's bioship in the tower's hangar, the team exited the aircraft, all with pensive gazes, especially Wally as he carried the golden helmet of the doctor with him in his hands.

"Alright, yall." Cyborg sighed. "Y'all go get some well earned rest." He nodded, looking to the speedster. "Wally, lets put that thing somewhere safe and debrief with Peter."

"No need to tell me twice." Superboy sighed.

"Ooh, I wonder if we still have waffle mix!" Megan chimed excitedly, before flying out of the room.

The speedster nodded at that, staring into his reflection in the helmet for a moment.

"Right..." he nodded.

After that, the two of them made their way up to the crime lab, where they found Peter and Raven sitting around the large table in the center of the room. Upon entering, the web head gave a surprised look and immediately shot to his feet.

"Guys! You're back!" He said.

"Yeah, we're back." Wally sighed, looking down at the helmet again.

Peter noticed his saddened expression and raised a brow with a curious look. Then his eyes widened in realization. "Wait... Mister Nelson... did he?..."

Cyborg slowly nodded at that. "We were attacked by two people trying to steal the helmet of fate." He explained. "A man named Abra Kadabra."

"Pretty much uses tech to give off the illusion of magic." Wally shrugged.

"Not entirely unheard of." Raven shrugged with her arms folded.

"But the other one..." Cyborg said. "He DID use magic... His name was Klarion the Witch boy. Pretty powerful too."

Raven gave a curious look at that. "Could you tell what kind of magic?"

Cyborg shrugged at that. "Fuck if I know. He DID mention he was like a natural enemy of Doctor Fate."

"Chaos magic." Raven noted with a nod.

"Nelson didn't make it, though..." Wally added with a saddened look. "He died of a heart attack."

"Shit..." Peter breathed out with a shake of the head. "That's not good."

"The league should know about this." Cyborg added with a serious look.

Peter nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I'll call them and let them know."

"So how did you guys get past him?" Raven asked.

"Well..." Cyborg replied, scratching his head, before looking to Wally.

The speedster paused for a moment, then sighed and looked back at them. "I put on the helmet, okay?"

Peter gave a concerned look at that. "You did?"

Wally nodded. "Yeah..."

"You could've been trapped in there for who knows how long." Raven pointed out.

"Yeah, I know." Wally sighed. "But we had to do SOMETHING."

"We're just glad you're all okay." Peter replied with a nod, holding out his hand as he noticed Wally's pensive expression. "Why don't you let us handle this and you go get some rest."

"Right." Wally breathed out with a distracted nod as he handed the helmet to Peter.

"You did good." Raven added.

Wally cracked a half smile of reassurance and nodded. "Thanks guys." He replied, then paused with an eyebrow raised when he finally noticed that someone else was in the room with them standing in front of the computer. "Wait, uh... who is THAT?"
