It was a seemingly quiet evening deep in the swamps of Louisiana. Apart from the one structure that stood amongst these quiet woods. A massive building with enormous walls and fences, and numerous guard towers overlooking the facility.
This was Belle Reve Penitentiary, the super villain prison.
Deep within the prison, a froup of eight guards dressed from head to toe in pads and protection gear, marched down a narrow hallway. The doors on both sides of the hall were strikingly different from the rest of the prison. There were no iron bars, only titanium doors with small windows to look through at the prisoners inside.
In the center of the guards, marched a heavy set woman in a tidy suit with a serious expression on her face. The group lead the woman all the way down the hall, hearing the muffled shouts and screams of the prisoners around them who were in solitary confinement.
It wasn't long however, before the guards finally stopped at the last door on the right, and they all stood at attention for a moment, before the woman gave them a stern nod. The guards nodded on cue, before one of them turned and unlocked the door, before opening it up.
As soon as he did, the other guards rushed in ahead to surround the prisoner inside.
The Man inside sat up from his cot, the hair on his face a thick dark beard, and the hair on his head slicked back from sweat. He gave an unintimidated sneer and looked around at the guards, "Is this the part where you put me under the prison?" He said with a cynical sneer.
The guards didn't have a chance to respond to him, before the woman slowly entered after them, "Not today, I'm afraid." She said as she stopped a few feet in front of him, then activated a holographic PDA in her hands. "Francis David Castle, aka Frank Castle, aka... The Punisher." She said, taking a moment to look at him in silence, causing Castle's eyes to narrow suspiciously at the woman. "Former United States Marine, but... Not from this world... Am I missing anything?"
Castle glared up at her for a moment in silence, before slowly rising to his feet, causing the guards to close in to put themselves between him and the woman. Though, the Punisher paid them no attention.
"You forgot the part about flying pigs and faries." He mocked in a gruff tone.
The corners of the woman's mouth tilted upward in the slightest amusement for a moment as she sized him up.
"Save the attitude for someone less informed..." she hissed in a stern tone. "I already know everything."
Castle gave a cynical chuckle at that and shook his head. "I assure you... You don't."
The woman's eyebrows furrowed at that withba stern glare as she and Castle stared each other down for a moment. Then she looked back at the device in her hands and switched the screens.
"Lets find out, then, shall we?" She retorted knowingly. "An estimated eight to nine thousand of Gotham's criminals slain. Nearly every powerful gang in the city. Hundreds of officers of the law... who never came home to see their families."
Frank sneered at the woman, taking a step forward, only to be held back by the guards. "Yeah?... How many people do you reckon didn't see their families again because of them? How many bodies do you think they have at the bottom of Gotham harbor?"
The woman was silent for a moment, still calmly assessing him. Then she nodded. "Too many... But of course we don't have you to deal with that. We have laws."
