Chapter 58: Interception

It was early one afternoon outside Titans Tower. Artemis and Kate were outside, while Nightwing was training Wally. The former Robin had the speedster right next to the water, while Beastboy sat in the grass to watch.

"Alright, ten times around the bay this time. No land." Dick said with his arms folded.

Wally raised a brow in mild surprise. "None? At all?"

Nightwing chuckled softly with his arms folded. "What's the matter? Too much for you?"

Wally hung his head with a sigh. "Damn... Well now I HAVE to do it, just to get back at you." He quipped as he readied himself to sprint across the water.

"Well good luck with that." Dick shrugged in amusement, holding his timer ready. "Aaaaand go!"

After that, Kid Flash took off across the water, his sheer speed keeping him from sinking at all.

The two archers watched in mild amusement and shook their heads collectively.

"I bet he's gonna trip." Artemis commented on dry amusement.

Kste chuckled softly as she readied her bow. "I think he might be too scared to." She joked, before drawing her bow and aiming it straight up. "Alright, now."

Artemis sighed and picked up a tennis ball she had at her feet and bounced it off the ground, and Kate immediately fired her arrow into the sky. Then she lowered her bow and they both watched the ball bouncing in place. Hearing the faint sound, Beastboy's ears perked up and he looked back.

Then with a mischievous grin, he morphed into a small bloodhound and took off running and barking towards the ball.

The two archers heard the noise and looked back at him.

Artemis smirked in mild amusement. "There's no way he's that dumb."

Kate however gave an alarmed expression, her eyes wide as the green hound got closer and closer. "Dude!" She scolded, before diving forward, tackling Beastboy, before he could reach the ball, causing him to morph back into a human. As the archer landed on top of him, Beastboy gave a confused groan, then glanced at the ball, bouncing beside his head. When suddenly, the arrow came back down and impaled the yellow object into the ground.

Beastboy's eyes widened with a frightened yelp. "Waaa! What the hell!?"

Kate deadpanned at that. "Uh, yeah. Archer with a bow. Context clues. Hello?" She replied with a hint of sass.

"That was a sick action movie dive, though." Artemis commented in amusement.

"For real, you saved my ass." Beastboy chuckled, sheepishly rubbing the back of his head. "Almost turned me into a Beast-kebab."

Kate couldn't help but give a soft chuckle at his joke. Then she rolled her eyes in amusement. "Yeah, well try to use your eyes next time, alright?"

"Deal." Beastboy nodded with a soft chuckle as Kate offered him a hand. Once they stood up, he sheepishly rubbed the back of his head with hesitation. "So, uh... You free later on? Cause uh, maybe we could-"

Kate eyes widened and a slight blush crept on her cheeks as she listened to him speak and she easily figured out what he was going to ask.

So she quickly cut him off. "Okay, first of all, yes I am busy." She began. "Second of all Raven is my FRIEND. So, no, I WON'T be dating her ex."

Beastboy was caught off guard by that, but couldn't help the sly smirk forming on his lips. "You didn't say you weren't interested." He teased.

Kate gave him a withering scowl. "Shut up..."
