The following day, Peter woke up early, in case they got any calls from Cyborg and the team in Baiylia. However, when he checked with Tim, they hadn't received any messages all night. Which was to be expected, since they were told to maintain radio silence at all times. Still, there was always a part of his mind that considered the worst possibility, at this point he couldn't help but worry. However, since they hadn't been gone that long, he figured he could give them some more time.
So, he went down to the kitchen to make himself something to eat. When he passed through the living room, he found all the lights already on, and sitting at the table in the kitchen were May and Kate.
"Hey, Pete." Kate waved.
Peter gave an amsued grin as he saw them. "Morning."
"Morning, dad." May replied with a casual wave as she looked at him over her shoulder.
Peter smiled at May as he opened the refrigerator. "You're up early. Hard time sleeping?"
"Not really." She shrugged with a sleepy yawn. "Luckily, I'm not you."
"Well thank God for that." Peter joked with a soft chuckle as he rummaged through the fridge, before grabbing the milk to make cereal.
Kate snickered at that. "I don't know how you have such a good sleep schedule, but can you show me?"
May chuckled softly and shrugged. "Uh, sure. I guess. Mostly, I just get tired around the same time."
"Her internal clock is so innocent." Peter sighed jokingly as he put the milk back.
"Untouched by the world." Kate added jokingly.
"I'm sixteen!" May replied with a confused grin. "I'll have you know, I'm quite experienced."
Kate gave a doubtful grin at that and shook her head. "Being sheltered isn't a crime. I was too."
May raised a brow at that. "You were?"
"Yeah, she was a rich kid." Peter interjected with a shake of the head as he sat down at the table to eat. "Lucky."
Kate scoffed at that with a faux offended expression. "I was not."
"You went to galas." Peter replied, causing May to chuckle in amusement.
Kate deadpanned at that and sighed with an amused smirk. "No need to be bitter, Spidey."
"I think it's cool." May shrugged, looking back at Kate. "You could've done anything. Instead, you chose the bow." She said, jokingly pretending to draw a bow.
Kate laughed at that and shrugged. "Well, I guess being a bit of a nerd helped with that too."
"Never hurts." Peter shrugged sarcastically. Then looked to May. "So, how you feeling this morning?"
May paused for a moment, then sighed with an amused eye roll. "I'm fine, dad. I've been up for an hour and so far everything's stayed out of the air." She joked.
Peter chuckled softly at that and nodded. "That's good." He replied.
"What about the mind reading thing?" Kate asked curiously.
May shrugged with a sheepish grin. "Thats... a bit tougher." She shrugged with an uncomfortable groan. "WAY too much information."
Peter gave a sympathetic smile and nodded. "You'll get there. You just gotta be patient with yourself."
May smiled softly and nodded at that. "Right... I just need to stop forgetting that." She shrugged with a sheepish grin.
"But really..." Kate said with a curious grin. "I bet you've got quite a lot of dirt, huh?"
