Peter and Raven met with Mayday one morning in preparation for one important event, school. Which after the failed attempt to confront her inner darkness seemed much more daunting than before. Raven wasn't sure if it was too soon or not, and Mayday was even less confident. Though the Spider-Girl still put on a front of confidence as best as she could. The way she saw it, the best way to prepare for something difficult was to make an attempt first. She knew she could hold back well enough simply by keeping a level head. Which, for her, her strategy would be keeping quiet and minimizing interaction with people.
So her parents met with her in the living room of the Tower, with May dressed in a pair of black cargo pants with combat boots and a band t-shirt and a leather crop jacket she borrowed from Raven.
"You know, Mom." May sighed as she slung her satchel bag across her shoulder. "I'm starting to really understand why you don't talk to people."
Raven gave a subtle smirk and folded her arms. "Oh yeah? Why is that?"
"Cause I don't think I'm gonna have it in me to do much socializing today." She said, before giving a dramatic shiver.
Peter and Raven both chuckled softly at that in amusement.
"Hey, you're only required to talk to the teachers." Raven shrugged.
"You say that like that makes it easier." May retorted sarcastically.
She and Peter both laughed as Raven gave an amused eye roll.
"Fair enough." She shrugged.
"Worst case scenario you can use humor to get out of almost any situation." Peter shrugged, "Unless you're in trouble, wouldn't recommend it, then."
May raised her eyebrow with an amused grin. "Dad, I've gone to school before. I've had first days before." She shrugged. "It's just a matter of how it's gonna go. Is it gonna be chill and boring, or am I gonna have a run in with the mean girls?" She joked sarcastically. "I'd hate to have to show them who's the meaner girl."
Peter and Raven both chuckled softly at that and shook their heads.
"No." Peter replied.
"Definitely don't do that." Raven added with an amused, albeit nervous grin. "I think eternal darkness might be overdoing it, even for them."
"I'm kidding." May rolled her eyes with an amused grin. "It's like dad said, just use humor. Their greatest weakness."
Peter nodded with a playful look of pride. "Haha, I win."
Raven gave him a sideways peering glance at that. "So you did." She said with a sarcastic hiss. Then she looked back at Mayday. "You sure you're gonna be okay today? We won't blame you if you wanted to do some more training first."
Mayday took a deep breath at that and shook her head as she exhaled. "No. Honestly, I'm getting a little stir crazy in here." She joked sarcastically.
"Yeah, it'll probably be nice to do more than crime fighting." Peter nodded in amusement.
May scoffed at that. "Speak for yourself. I for one think putting assholes in their place is the funnest shit ever."
"Most fun." Raven corrected flatly.
"Whatever." The Spider-Girl waved it off. "The only thing getting in my way are these damn powers. They need to chill."
"Why don't you focus on settling them before you go patrolling the city, miss feisty pants." Peter insisted jokingly.
May rolled her eyes with a deflated sigh. "I'm sure I can do something-"
"No." Raven cut her off sharply, "You fighting crime is already asking too much." She explained. "But without proper control, your powers could possibly get someone killed, or even yourself."
