After the situation in Baiylia, Peter and Raven were more worried than ever. However, even they knew that May was probably much more scared than they were, likely with the constant fear she might teleport at any second. To combat this, Raven decided that moving on to more advanced magic would be a good thing. To teach May to teleport and Astral travel herself, so as to decrease the chance of it happening accidentally. Even if it did happen, then at least May would be equipped to return herself.
Astral projection wasn't that hard for the Spider-Girl to figure out. However, it was the teleportation herself that took a while to figure out. The first few days, she couldn't do it at all. Then the first time she did it successfully, she wound up going to the wrong place, like China or London, and Raven would have to go and get her. By the end of the first week, the most May could manage was teleporting small distances, which was a decent start.
However, it was clear to Raven that she would likely need to move on to her more advanced abilities. That being her soul-self, which she used for most of her abilities. While it may have been quite a leap forward compared to what they had been learning, it was clear to her that this was a part of May that had gone untamed. She wasn't sure why her future self neglected this aspect so much, weather it be from sheer business of a hero life, or the desire to give May a normal life. Whichever theory ended up being true, Raven just hoped it wouldn't end up being something sinister. She couldn't help but jump to that conclusion, even after all that time. Such was simply the effect that Trigon had on Raven.
Though, if being with Peter had taught her anything, it was that they should make the most with the time they had together. So preparing her for the world, Raven felt, was a responsibility she needed to see through.
So after a week of trying and failing at learning how to teleport, Raven finally decided it was time to try something else. So one day, rather than meeting in their usual training room, Raven had her daughter meet in her room.
May glanced at Peter, who walked with her to the room as they saw Raven meditating in the middle of the room. "Is it this awkward when I do that around people?" She whispered jokingly.
"Maybe after a while." Peter shrugged with an amused grin.
"I can hear you two, you know." Raven said, before slowly opening her eyes and standing to her feet. "And unfortunately, we can't joke around today. I'll need your complete focus."
"Yeesh, you make it sound like it's some sort of boss battle." Peter snickered.
Raven shrugged at that. "In a way. Kinda like how finals are for you."
Peter winced at that. "Ooh. I see her point now. That's bad news."
May gave a slightly worried look at that, her purple eyes widening slightly. "What? Seriously?"
"I'm kidding." He chuckled softly with a pat on the shoulder. "You've got this."
"How do you know?" She asked
"Cause you've got her as a teacher," he said while gesturing to Raven. "Plus you've got your instincts to help you too. So, you know, trust the tingle." He shrugged.
"Right. Right." May nodded, before flashing a sly grin. "The what-tingle? What was it again, dad?"
Peter covered his ears at that. "Nope. I'm not listening. La la la la!" He paused to kiss Raven, before turning to walk away. "Seriously though. Good luck."
May smiled softly and nodded as he gave her a pat on the shoulder. "Thanks, dad." She said as he walked away.
Then suddenly, Peter turned around just as he reached the corner. "Oh and May!" He called, causing her to glance over at him. Then he cupped his hands to his mouth. "Remember! Use the force!" He said in a deep voice.
