The stars in the night sky above the school twinkled like tiny gems as Adrien entered the open hall. The school had tidied everything up and decorated it with fairy lights, tables with food and drink had been prepared and a music system had been set up for Nino. Most of the pupils were already dressed and gathered in front of the tables, discussing the events of the last few days. "What do you think, will Ultimoth not attack us today at least?" one student wanted to know. Another student in a tight dress shook her head. "If he really does attack Paris again, Ladybug and Cat Noir will definitely protect us," she replied. Adrien looked around, searching for his classmates in the crowd, when he spotted Nino and Alya. "Hey you two," he greeted them. Alya hugged him while Nino took off his headphones and shook his fist. "Hey dude. You look nice," he remarked. "You too," Adrien replied, it was an unusual sight to see Nino in a suit. Adrien had decided to wear the same suit he had worn at Marinette's performance. The only thing he hadn't put on was his hat; he had tucked the feather into the small breast pocket.
"Marinette should be here any minute," Alya assured him and straightened her orange dress. The next moment, a long, black limousine appeared and two young girls got out. They were Cloé and Zoé in beautiful golden dresses, although Cloé's was a little shorter. She had tied her hair in a bun, while her sister wore her hair down as usual. The two of them joined Adrien, Nino and Alya. "Hey Cloé, you look stunning," Adrien said and smiled. "Thanks, you too Adrikins," Cloé replied and had to smile too. The two looked at each other for a moment. Adrien was glad to have finally made up with Cloé again. But Cloé was also feeling better now, she had changed. And all because of Marinette. A smile played around his lips. "And there she is too," Alya said and waved. Adrien turned around and froze. There she stood. With her...incredibly beautiful dress, her...long, loose, dark hair and her blue eyes as clear as the sky. "Oh...wow!" Adrien gasped and walked over to Marinette. The girl walked elegantly down the stairs, her white, delicate, pink glittering dress following the steps. A small, pink butterfly clung to the side, emphasizing Marinette's elegant figure. "Marinette, you look...enchanting," Adrien confessed, reaching out his hand to her. Marinette blushed a little, then walked with Adrien to the others. They held hands and she could feel his warm skin. It was all real. It was happening right now! "Girl, you're awesome!" Alya exclaimed, throwing herself around her neck. "That looks really beautiful," Zoé remarked and smiled. Cloé looked at her skeptically for a moment. "Did you do that yourself?" she wanted to know. Marinette nodded uncertainly.
"Such a shame my mother can't see it. I'd love to wear it," Cloé confessed and giggled. Marinette giggled too. "Guys! You can go ahead! Dance as long as the principal hasn't started his speech yet!" shouted Nino, staring at the music. Most of the students started dancing to the rhythm of the music, but Marinette got a cup first and took a sip. "Thanks to the lady who organized the exhibition at the wax museum, we can have a great ball today. She's here today and is giving a speech with the principal," Alya said and took a sip of Coke. Marinette remembered. Back then, she had kissed Adrien in the museum. That had been really embarrassing. After a while, the music stopped and Nino made an announcement: "And now a song for our couples," he called out and was dragged onto the dance floor by Alya. Marinette stifled a laugh, which Cloé filmed with amusement. "Can I invite my lady to a dance?" Adrien suddenly asked Marinette.
"What...me? I can't even..." she tried to dodge, but Adrien pulled her onto the dance floor. Adrien put his hand on her hip, while Marinette put her hand around his. Together they danced and spun to the beat of the music. Marinette's dress swayed as Adrien spun her around and then caught her. "You can do anything, Marinette. You're special," he said and blushed. The two of them danced for a while until the pop songs came on again. "I'll be right back," said Alya and gave Nino a kiss on the cheek. "Ugh, I can't take any more!" Marinette sighed and sat down on a chair. Adrien handed her something to drink. "Thank you," she mumbled and they both blushed again. They stared at each other for a moment, then smiled. "And Cheese!" Cloé was heard to say, then she took a photo of the two of them. "You look great," Zoé laughed. "You'll get the photo later," Cloé was gone. Marinette and Adrien laughed and she got a little wet. "I'll get some tissues" 'No, it's fine', Marinette touched his hand. Her cheeks glowed and his eyes sparkled. "I'll... do it," then he disappeared into the toilet and fetched some paper. "Maybe you should finally tell him," she heard Tikki whisper from her pocket. Marinette hesitated. Was this the right moment? But when would there be a better moment? When Adrien came back, she stood up. "Is something wrong?" he asked in astonishment. The colored light flickered on their faces.
"I...I...wanted to tell you something. For...a long time," Marinette said and paused. She had to look into his perfect, beautiful eyes. She almost lost herself in them. "Marinette, I think I should...tell you something first," he confessed, scratching the back of his head. He took her hands and squeezed them. Marinette could feel his warm breath. "I...I...," Marinette hesitated.
"I love you," they both confessed almost simultaneously. It was only a few seconds later that they realized what they had just said. "You...you...what?" Marinette squeaked, but Adrien no longer hesitated. He took her and pressed himself against her. "I'll always love you, Marinette," he whispered. Then he kissed her on the lips. Marinette felt her lips touch his. For a brief moment, they closed their eyes and enjoyed the moment. It was their very first kiss.
Her first kiss with Adrien.

Kagami sat on her bed and sighed. She would have liked to go to the ball too...but. She had to think about Adrien. She could no longer look him in the eye. He had never really loved her. He had always loved Marinette. It had all been a lie. Everything. Kagami's eyes filled with tears, but she wiped them away. Suddenly her cell phone rang. She had received a message. She looked at the display. A photo of Cloé-Kagami froze. It was a photo of Marinette and Adrien...kissing...She dropped her cell phone and sank down. She sobbed. She had known it from the beginning. They were meant for each other, why had she fallen in love with Adrien? Why had she been so stupid? She pushed her fencing weapon away and cried. How naive of her. How stupid. But...Marinette deserved it. But...what did she deserve? Without realizing that a small butterfly had entered the room, she rubbed her finger. Her mother's new ring itched. But she would never take off her gift, that would be...
She couldn't continue her thought as she heard an old familiar voice in her head. "Riposte Prime," she heard Ultimoth say. "No, no, no," Kagami whispered. But it was too late. She knew it. He knew it. There was no escape.
