Day Itt GENESIS

Chapter 16

It was almost dark . The sound of rustling leaves was more prominent. The rhythmic chirping of crickets were making Itt uneasy . He has started feeling cold with the temperature drop. He was scared enough to move out of the pit and was pondering to stay there till morning. His stomach was grumbling as he had no food whole day. He had given up hope of Day returning.  The thoughts of Day leaving him were more stronger but he was also slightly concerned if anything happened to Day.  He was now laying down in pit and curling as he felt quite chilly. He was almost dozing off but getting alerted every now and then with haunting hoots of owl. Fortunately he did not hear any other animal voices till now making him assume that probably they are not too deep in forest.

Sudden screeching sound of tyres and sound of bricks falling and car stopping with a thud startled Itt  who had almost drifted off to sleep. He moved to corner of pit and made him as small holding his knees to his chest. His heart was racing as he heard those noises in the matter of few seconds.

Voice of car door opening and shutting made him more scared and he was trembling. 

"Itt... Itt ... " familiar voice made him heaved sigh of relief.

Day removed the sheet of leaves and stretched his hand towards Itt "Come out quick"  Itt  saw Day whose face was full of bruises with his lips cracked from one side and blood trickling above his right eyebrow. Itt  was confused seeing Day like that and moved his hand to hold Day's hand without thinking.  Day caught his hand tightly and applied little force to pull him out of the pit as Itt stretched his other hand to hold the edge of pit and placing one foot to step on one of the protruding rock. 

Day pulled him out making him stumble backward but was able to restore his balance. He opened the passenger  door for Itt and made him sit and closed the door. He quickly moved to driving seat and started the car.  Day turned to look at Itt while putting his belt to say to Itt "Put the seat belt "without any expression and Itt followed without resisting.  Day had almost broken one wall to enter the house and his path was clear to go out. He stepped on the accelerator and speeded out. Itt was little dazed and held his seat belt tightly as Day was almost flying the car making Itt sway towards Day and then towards window. Day quickly pulled Itt towards him by holding his arm tightly as Itt was about to hit his head on the window.

Itt saw Day's arm which he bandaged with his shirt cloth which was all red now with blood. Itt's eyes had a concerning look as he saw Day. His emotions were confusing as big part of him was angry on Day over his past and also scared of him.  However Day's actions towards him in last few weeks as Neil though he felt betrayed but also he was the one Itt could open up after long time ; and now the way he was protecting him was making Itt soften towards Day.

There was a sound of another vehicle and in forest at night the noise was very distinct but it seemed far away. Day accelerated further and handed his phone to Itt "Check if the network is there."

Itt's hands were shaky but took the phone to check and nodded in affirmation.

"Open GPS and apply nearer route to city." Itt did as Day said and immediately told "Go straight for now and there is a turn after 2 km. Day looked at Itt and then back straight on the path as one corner of his lips turned up as he smiled slightly but did not want to show to Itt as he knew Itt will again turn awkward if he saw him smiling.

After few minutes Itt said "Turn right from here" and Day nodded and turned. Soon they were out of forest as Itt guided the directions. As they hit the road Day moved his head back touching the seat head and took a deep breath.  Itt did same in the same instance making Day see Itt's face and this time he smiled watching him.

As expected Itt got little awkward and started looking out of the window. 

Day knew this route as it was towards Kanchnaburi. He wanted to go back to Bangkok to drop Itt to his home but he knew more people will be chasing him if he crossed Bangkok toll and he did not want to put Itt at risk.

"Are you hungry? " Day asked .

Itt did not speak. Day moved his one hand at back of his seat and pulled out a bottle of water from organiser and handed over to Itt "Drink this for now. I will stop after a while where it's more safe"

Itt took the bottle as he was really thirsty without seeing Day. He opened and cap of bottle and  asked "Where are .. Where are we going? in shaky voice while clearing his throat and then took a sip of water.

Day took a pause and then explained "It's actually my hometown Kanchanaburi and we will be safe."

Itt's eyes widened as he turned to look at Day. He was little scared too as he did not trust Day "But.. I.. I"

Day added " I know you are not comfortable with me. I'm sorry but It will be risky to go towards Bangkok now as more people will be waiting for me to chase near toll. "

Day could see Itt's hands fidgeting and he was frowning tensely "Let's just go there for now so that we can pass the night and  tomorrow morning I will ensure you will be back safely to your home  in Bangkok "

Itt was wringing his hands and nodded nervously. The thought of staying with Day throughout the night was making him terrified and Day could sense that.

Day continued driving and Itt kept looking out of the window ruminating how things will turn out.
