3rd Person POV

"Daaaaaaaad! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" A child yelled out as he jumped on his father.

"Ughhh. What time is it?" He asks as he covers his face with his blanket.

"Time to get up! Get up! It's my birthday today! Get upppp!" He says, now pulling the blanket off his father.

"Ughhh, fine. I'm up, I'm up." He says groggily as he finally gets up. We now get a good look at him. A man with black hair and amber eyes, seemingly in his mid to late twenties. "Where's your mom, Ace?" He asks his son as he cracks his back.

"She's making breakfast! She told me to wake you up, that you're too lazy." Ace says quickly grabbing his dad's arm. "Come on, she said to hurry!" He says running towards the kitchen while dragging his dad with him.

"I'm right behind you." He says with a yawn at the end, clearly still tired. Finally they both arrive at the kitchen. "Why'd he have to wake me up?" He asks his wife.

"It's already 10. You needed to get up eventually, John." She says as she flips some pancakes. We get a good look at her, magenta hair  reaching her shoulders, with bright blue eyes.

"Yes, Sera." John says as he approaches her. "What are we gonna do for Ace's birthday this year? Hard to believe he's already 6." John mentions.

"He wanted to visit your dad first." She says, turning to look at John. He simply nods in response. "Blyke and Remi said they were gonna throw a surprise party for him too. Arlo and Elaine are visiting. So are Leilah and Darren." She says, turning to look at Ace, who is now running around the common room.

"We'll do that then. I know he loves playing with Dixie and Katie." John says as he starts zoning out. He had visited his father several times since his death. The flowers on the grave were constantly fresh from the ones he left for William. He suddenly feels a tap on his arm. He sees that it was Sera.

"You okay?" She asks, worry in her eyes and voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just feels  so surreal." He says with a sigh. "Our lives changed so much since the revolution." He says thinking back on it.

"Yeah, they have. But it's been all for the better." She responds.

Time Skip

"Ace! Hurry up. We're leaving." Sera shouts at her son who is taking a while to leave.

"I'm going!" He shouts as he runs to the door. "Where are we going?" He asks his parents.

"We're going to Aunt Remi's." John says as they walk out the door.

"Yay! I can't wait to see Trixie again. She owes me 5$." He says with a laugh.

Time Skip

"Surprise!" John, Sera and Ace hear as they walk through the door to Remi and Blyke's house. "Happy Birthday, Ace." They all shout.

Ace just looks at everyone with a shocked face, having no idea how to react. "Wow!" He says as he sees everyone.

"Go play with Trixie and Katie." John says as he walks inside.

"Hey guys!" Remi says as she gives both John and Sera a hug.

John looks at the others in the room. "It feels weird having all of us together again." He says, clearing up the slight awkwardness in the room.

"Yeah, it does." Arlo responds.

It feels nice though

A/N

I decided to make a small prologue. I just decided to do it because why not. For those wondering, while it's not too important, Dixie is Blyke and Remi's daughter and Katie is Arlo and Elaine's. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed and I have an abso-fucking-lutely fantastic day/night.
