Third Person's POV
(Y/n) ran down the hallway, her heels echoing in the quiet as she chased after Rui. Panic clawed at her chest, the girl's devastated expression burned into her mind.
She found Rui sitting on a low bench by the garden door, shoulders hunched, and body wracked with sobs. She approached cautiously, not wanting to frighten the girl further.
"Rui..." she crouched down in front of her. Rui didn't look up, her body shaking as tears streamed down her face.
"Did I..." Rui's voice was barely a whisper, choked with sorrow, "...did I ruin everything?"
(Y/n)'s heart twisted painfully as she heard Rui's broken voice. She reached out, placing a hand on the girl's trembling shoulder. Rui flinched but didn't pull away, her sobs growing quieter as she tried to speak.
"I... I ruined everything, didn't I?" Rui choked out. "No wonder my brothers hated me. No wonder they never wanted to be around me. It's all my fault. I... I destroyed their family. I ruined Mommy's and Papa's marriage...!"
(Y/n) shook her head, tears stinging her own eyes. "Rui, no... that's not true."
"But it is!" Rui suddenly burst out, her hands clenched in her lap. She looked up, her eyes red and swollen from crying. "They never divorced on good terms, did they? Mama said they did, but that was a lie! I-I ruined everything for Ran-nii, Rin-nii, and Mommy. They were a family, and then I came along and... and broke them apart!"
She hiccuped through her tears. "(Y/n)-nee, they hate me. My brothers hate me because I'm the reason everything fell apart. Ran-nii-he's right, isn't he? I'm the mistake that ruined their lives. I don't even belong here. I'm just... I'm just-" Her voice wavered, breaking completely as fresh tears poured down her cheeks.
(Y/n) pulled Rui into a tight embrace, feeling the girl's hands clutch desperately at her dress. "Listen to me, Rui," she said firmly. "You didn't ruin anything. None of this is your fault, do you hear me? You are not a mistake. You are not a curse. You are just a child, and none of the choices the adults made are your burden to bear."
Rui shook her head against (Y/n)'s shoulder, her tears wetting the fabric. "But... but if I hadn't been born-"
"Stop," (Y/n) interrupted, stroking Rui's hair in a soothing motion. "Don't ever say that. Your existence is not a mistake, Rui. You are not responsible for the pain between your parents or your brothers. They were hurting long before you were even born."
"Then why does Ran-nii hate me so much?" Rui's voice was muffled, filled with confusion and heartbreak. "He despises me so much, he always does. I'm never a sister to him. Why?"
(Y/n) closed her eyes, holding Rui even tighter as if trying to shield her from the harshness of the world. She didn't have all the answers-she couldn't undo the years of resentment or change the scars left by the past-but she knew one thing for certain.
