At a fancy restaurant,
Nighttime..

Rindou stepped into the upscale restaurant. His eyes searched the tables until they landed on a familiar figure sitting near the corner. The man looked up from his drink as Rindou approached, a thin, satisfied smile curling across his lips. Rindou sighed as he made his way over, his shoes clicking softly against the marble floor.

The man gestured toward the seat across from him. "Sit."

Rindou hesitated for only a moment before pulling out the chair and settling into it, his posture tense but controlled. He leaned back slightly, crossing his arms over his chest as his gaze fixed on the older man.

"What do you need from me, old man?" Rindou asked. He wasn't in the mood for games. Though the tone was far from respectful, Ryoichi didn't reprimand his second son. Instead, he let the words hang in the air, taking another slow sip of his drink before placing the glass back down with a deliberate clink.

"Can't I talk to my son?" he asked evenly. Rindou let out an irritated sigh, his frustration bubbling to the surface. "If you dragged me here for small talk, I'm leaving," he shot back, already pushing his chair slightly back as if to make good on his threat.

Ryoichi raised a hand, palm out, motioning for him to stop. "Sit down," he said firmly, but without anger. "I just wanted to catch up. Ask about Rui. Is that so wrong?"

The mention of his younger sister made Rindou pause. He reluctantly lowered himself back into the chair. "You could've called Mama if that's all this was about. Why me?" Rindou complained.

"...I don't know. I just want to see you, that's all." Ryoichi's answer caused silence to dawn over them.

"It had been so long since I got to spend time with you, or Ran, properly."
