The birthday party ended with disaster.
Ryoichi had contacted Wisteria, asking her to look after Rui as he "settle things with Naomi once and for all." Wisteria realized that wasn't a good sign. Hence, she kept that quiet from Rui.
Rindou had also decided to stay with his mother..and his other three stepmothers. He knew this was the worst time to see Ran, and he didn't feel like meeting his older brother after their fallout. He hadn't heard from his brother since then, yet his heart was too hurt to even care right now.
So Rindou poured all his love and attention on Rui.
Rui was too scared to go to school. Most of her school friends were present at her birthday party when the revelation happened. Ryoichi had also reassured her not to worry about her education as he had sorted things out with the school higher-ups. Rui now only focused on bonding with Rindou and her stepmothers.
Wisteria eventually told the full story about her love journey with her three beloved girlfriends to Rindou, not hiding anything from her second son. Now, Rindou still felt a bit awkward with them, but growing comfortable with their presences as time passed.
Y/n went home right away after sleeping over at Wisteria's place, even though Rui asked her to stay longer. It was hard to leave Rui and Rindou, but she promised to come over visiting some time.
Y/n left some of her belongings at the Haitanis' apartment, yet she didn't bother picking them up since she refused to face Ran now. Though, she did try contacting him but was left unanswered. Realizing he wanted to be left alone, Y/n slowly gave up on contacting Ran.

Y/n's POV
The rooftop was quiet. I reached it first, leaving Izana and Shion behind to wrestle the cafeteria crowd for lunch. With a sigh, I leaned against the railing, flipping open my phone. The tiny screen blinked back at me, devoid of life-no missed calls, no new texts. Nothing.
I stared at Ran's name in my contacts. Where are you? I thought, my thumb hovering over the dial button before retreating. A dull ache settled in my chest, an unwelcome companion I couldn't shake.
